General Hospital fans are still reeling from the insane casting twist that was revealed last week when The Young and the Restless alum Michelle Stafford appeared as Silas Clay’s not-so-dead wife Nina. Today it was revealed by Soap Opera Digest that another major soap star was headed to General Hospital. Ronn Moss played the part of Ridge Forrester on Bold and the Beautiful for 25 years, and then he resigned in 2012. And, now he is headed to General Hospital!
Soap Opera Digest was extremely vague in their announcement that Ronn Moss joined General Hospital, literally all they said was “Digest has learned that daytime icon Ronn Moss, who left the role of B&B’s Ridge in 2012 after a 25-year run, has signed on to GH. Look for him to appear this week.” So, we have no idea what character Ronn Moss is playing, but we have a feeling it is going to be another huge twist. If Ronn Moss is appearing on General Hospital this week, his scene had to have been filmed weeks ago, maybe even months ago. So why are we just hearing about it now?
One idea we heard from the editor of Soap Opera Spy is that Ronn may be coming to General Hospital to play Lorenzo Alcazar, the arch criminal. The age range fits for Alcazar so it’s possible. Of course it’s very possible that Ronn as Lorenzo, or as another character with a big grudge against Sonny and Port Charles will be unveiled as Luke’s imposter at the Nurses’ Ball 2014. We are on the case here at CDL and as soon as we learn more about this thrilling development we will update this post!
Whenever a new player joins a soap, it’s announced months in advance. You would think that they would want to broadcast that they landed a star like Ronn Moss weeks in advance. Unless, they are trying to keep his new character a secret, because it’s a huge twist. If they had told us weeks ago that Michelle Stafford was playing Nina Clay, then we would have known that Nina was alive.
Fans are already speculating on message boards about who Ronn Moss will be portraying. Keep in mind the actor is 62, so there is no way he is taking on the part of Jason Morgan. Who do you think Ronn Moss will be playing? And, why did The Powers That Be at General Hospital keep his casting a secret until now? Let us know what you think in the comment section below!
Update: Hold everything! Ronn Moss is coming to GH for only a day – he is not a new hire and will not be taking a long-term role on our favorite soap. His band will be performing at the Nurses’ Ball 2014 – that’s it and that’s all folks. Ronn’s wife clarified all this on Twitter. On the brighter side of this disappointing news is that we still leave the door open for Michael Muhney and/or Billy Miller to join the great cast on General Hospital.
