The first pictures of George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin during their wedding have been released via People Magazine, showing the coupe in all their wedded glory. Now, George Clooney’s wedding photos are considered a pretty big get, right? Is it just me, or did anybody else expect more? I’m almost disappointed that George Clooney and Alamuddin decided to go with People [ostensibly, still a weekly tabloid] rather than Vogue or The New York Times. But then again, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie also sold their exclusive wedding photos to People [and Hello], so maybe they realize that their fan base and People’s readers tend to intersect fairly often.
The quotes from wedding guests are sappy and romantic, as can be expected. Amal’s mother, Baria Alamuddin, told People, “George and Amal radiated love all night. The wedding was so unbelievably special, it was legendary. These three days – the friends, the families, the atmosphere, everything – will stay with me all the rest of my life.”
You know, George and Amal really were the antithesis of the Brange when it came to wedding planning. Like, George Clooney went FULL famewhore with his wedding, right down to the interviews, the paparazzi, the media attention, and the excess of it all. Maybe it was his wife’s influence, or maybe he just had an inner famewhore that was screaming to get out – and what better day than his wedding to let his freak flag fly?
Of course, there were also plenty of celebrity guests at the wedding, including Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Bill Murray, and Bono, just to name a few. Amal’s wedding dress was nice and low-key, considering how big the wedding was. The photos are sweet, and George and Amal genuinely look lovely together. The wedding was expensive [allegedly $13 million], and the attention to detail was insane. I mean, I don’t know what else to say – George went full Kimye, you guys. I never thought I’d see the day that George Clooney even got married, never mind shouting about that marriage through a procession in Venice. It’s true what they say – pigs do fly.
