HART OF DIXIE returns to the CW tonight with a brand new episode. In “Back in the Saddle Again,” Zoe and Lemon turn to each other for girlfriend advice; Wade takes Vivian out; Lavon loses focus while bidding on bringing the County Fair to BlueBell when he learns that AnnaBeth is dating; Magnolia tries to get Brick to leave so she can throw a party.
On last week’s episode Zoe (Rachel Bilson) was convinced that she and Lavon (Cress Williams) were cursed and the only way to make things right was to fix the past. When Vivian’s (guest star Lauren Bittner) son (guest star Cole Sand) asked Wade (Wilson Bethel) for some advice, he was happy to help, but not everyone was excited about his methods. After an unplanned encounter, George (Scott Porter) and Lemon (Jaime King) tried to avoid each other, but it was more difficult now that they were business partners. Meanwhile, AnnaBeth (Kaitlyn Black) was getting fed up with one of Brick’s (Tim Matheson) patients, Davis (guest starred Barry Watson), until she learned the real reason behind his ailments. On tonight’s episode oe (Rachel Bilson) and Lemon (Jaime King) seem to find some common ground and turn to each other for some much needed girlfriend advice. Wade (Wilson Bethel) is excited to take Vivian (guest star Lauren Bittner) out for a nice night out, but when her ex-husband begins texting her, Wade becomes suspicious of her exes’ true intentions. Lavon (Cress Williams) has the opportunity to bid to have the County Fair in BlueBell, but he loses focus when learns that AnnaBeth (Kaitlyn Black) is now dating. Meanwhile, Magnolia (guest star Claudia Lee) concocts a plan to get Brick (Tim Matheson) away from his house to throw a party. Scott Porter also stars. Rebecca Asher directed the episode written by Kendall Sand.

Lemon is leaving the Dixie Stop and George hides from her. She asks what he’s doing and tells him she’s glad he’s there. She tells him she’s going on a three month no-man cleanse. She says she’s going to devote herself to work and needs his help with the books on Sunday. Outside she runs head on into Peter – the one that got away. She asks why he’s there and he says he’s working on a project in Mobile he took so he could see her. He asks her to dinner tomorrow and she hems and haws and asks to think about it. He gives her his card and she’s stunned as he walks away.
Zoe comes in the Butter Stick and orders an English muffin. The clerk misses Joel and mentions him. Then her contractor comes in and tells her that their house is done. She says it’s her house and she’s keeping it. She snatches the key and walks out. She tells herself she can find someone else and then literally runs into a cute guy on a bike. He apologizes and invites her to dinner. He says his name is Vince and leaves his card with her and bikes away.
Zoe goes to Lavon and he shows her a model he’s made of the county fair he wants moved to Blue Bell. She says she needs advise and he says not about boys. He says he gives advice and she never listens. He tells her to go find someone else not to listen to.
Wade is it a Wilkes’ event playing ping pong and someone brings him a home brewed beer. Vivian drags him away to rescue him from her family. They sneak off to kiss and he says he’s been waiting to do it. They laugh about the number of glass eyes in her family. She says he’s been a trooper and they need some privacy. She wants to blow off the family fish fry tomorrow to be alone. She promises and they kiss to seal it.
AnnaBeth is snuggled up with her new BF Davis and he’s ready to take them public. She says that dating a Gainey in Blue Bell is like rooting for the wrong team. Lemon calls her and tells her that Peter is in town and asked her out. AB tells her to go and then Lemon tells her about the man cleanse and she tells her not to go.
AB asks her to hold on because she has another call – it’s from Zoe who tells her about the guy that asked her out. She tells her to go and then not go and then puts them on a three way call and tells them to talk to each other about their prospective dates. She hangs up and leaves the other two on the call. They agree they can figure out their own problems and hang up.
Lavon shows George the layout for the fair and they talk strategy until there’s a knock at the door. It’s Mayor Gainey bringing him a giant donut. He tells Lavon that Blue Bell won’t get the county fair. Gainey says he’s there about the good news and says his nephew is dating Lavon’s niece. He tells him it’s AB then asks isn’t she his niece. He leaves and George talks Lavon down from blowing up. He hopes it’s not true.
Lemon talks about her dating dilemma out loud to herself but can’t decide. AB won’t take her call. Zoe asks herself if three weeks is long enough to mourn Joel before going out on a date. AB won’t take her call either. They each call their dates and agree to see them but both ladies are unspeakably nervous.
Lavon and George sit at the Butter Stick and discuss their presentation. Dash comes up with his microphone to ask his thoughts on AB being out with Davis buying prophylactics. George says no comments and sends him off. Lavon is ready to explode and George tells him to ignore it and go home and focus on the presentation.
Magnolia is home and asks Brick if she can go to a party. She begs and whines and says it’s Carter Covington’s party in Charleston. He tells her he’s 30 and she says that no one her age invites her out. She says the school is all girls and her grandmother is a tyrant. He orders her back to her grandmothers and she stomps out.
Lemon picks up a cheesecake when Cricket asks her if it’s all for her. She tells her she has a date with Peter and Cricket asks if it’s a booty call. Lemon says it’s like HBO and Cricket says she’s never watched it. Cricket says that’s not Belle behavior and she reminds her she’s no longer a Belle and that she’s having sex tonight.
Zoe comes to ask Lavon what she should wear on her date and he blows up and starts talking about buying condoms and forgetting men you were in a relationship with. He says we should all just move on and sleep with whoever. He’s doing push ups while he yells at her and she is flummoxed then leaves.
Wade asks Wanda to close for him. Viv, Harley and his dad come in. They are trying to cheer him up. His team won but he didn’t get to play. His dad says he’s going to pick Harley up and asks if he can go to the fish fry tonight. She says it’s fine and says that she and Wade have a date anyway. Her ex wishes them a good time and says he will tell the Wilkes they said hi.
Lemon asks her dad which dress she should wear to make her look like a girl from HBO. Zoe yells for Brick and he rushes into her office and she wants him to choose a dress that says she won’t have sex until she’s ready. Both girls yell at him and Brick calls Lemon in. He tells them they both need a GF and need to talk to each other. They talk dresses then trip over each other running out to find different clothes to wear both yelling that they have a date.
George tells Lavon to imagine that he lives in a world with two people Lavon and Billy Green – the guy who decides where the fair goes. He tells him to imagine that he is the answer to Billy’s prayers. Brick comes in telling George he needs help. He says Magnolia is off with Carter Covington and it’s highly inappropriate. Lavon says that’s creepy and Brick says he and George have to go get her. Lavon tells him he needs him there. He tells Lavon to focus and tells him he will be fine. He creeps out with Brick.
Music plays as Wade and Viv come in and greet Lucy – Wade’s friend that owns the place they are at – The Wine Box. Viv says Lucy is cute and he asks her to dance. They hit the floor and he twirls her.
Peter shows up to Lemon’s with a bottle of wine. He asks her what smells good and she says pasta. He kisses her and says he’s been thinking about kissing her again for the past six months. She says – me too. Zoe meets Vince for dinner and tells him she’s not having sex with him. He says most of his dates don’t start out like that and she says she doesn’t date much. He makes a joke about them holding off sex for the end of the date and they start over with small talk.
Vince says he doesn’t like the movies and he says he likes Extra. He says the host has good teeth and he says he’s a doctor. She qualifies that he’s a dentist and he asks if she’s impressed. Clearly she’s not.
Lavon meets with Billy Green and his people about bringing the fair to BB. They worry it’s too small but he reassures them that BB is perfect but then sees AB kissing Davis in his car and he’s distracted. He asks them if they want martinis. They are taken aback.
Vince tells her that she’s a snob being from New York and that he knows she doesn’t think he’s a real doctor but then he tells her he makes twice as much money. Peter tells Lemon about bugs in one of his specials and she’s not thrilled. Vince tells her she’s easy on the eyes and Zoe isn’t impressed. Lemon asks if he’s ever going to be back to BB and he says he doesn’t know how long it will be until he’s back. Vince asks Zoe to take dessert back to his place. Zoe says she needs to make a call and Lemon says she needs air.
Lemon calls Zoe and agree they need someone to talk to. They agree to meet at the doctor’s office. They sit on the sofa and neither looks happy to be confiding in the other. Lemon says – here we are. Zoe asks if they are going to talk and Lemon says it goes against everything she stands to. Zoe says she notices she’s not on her date and Lemon says she’s not on hers either. They decide they need wine.
Brick complains to George about being surrounded by nutty, irrational women. He wonders if all the women in town have their cycles synced. He complains about Lemon being on a date with Peter and asking him about sex clothes. George says she thought Lemon was done dating and Brick complains about what she wants and when is she going to settle down.
Lavon is getting tipsy and complaining about Filmore and why the fair shouldn’t go there. Billy asks why they should have it in BB and Lavon says that Gainey is messing with him by setting her up with his nephew. He runs away ending the meeting.
Wade brags on his dancing as Viv compliments the wine. She says she likes him even more and he kisses her. She gets a call and it’s Harley. She tells her she’s proud of him and ends the call. She tells him that Charles took Harley to the batting cage and he finally got his first hit. Wade tries to get back to the romance but she’s texting her ex to send her a photo.
Zoe tells Lemon that her date was awful and she should have known because of his bike shirt. Lemon says her date was great but she couldn’t sleep with him because he’s not going to be back for a while. Zoe tells Lemon that she’s a girl that needs love for sex and she tells her that Meatball, Enrique and the others were all distractions that she didn’t need. Lemon tells Zoe that going on a date after three weeks was moronic and she should tell her date to shove his bicycle up his butt. They agree they both had good advice but aren’t happy about opening up to each other.
Viv is distracted by texts with photos from Charles and isn’t giving Wade any attention. He tells her Harley getting the hit is great but asks why Charles is barraging her with videos and pictures right now. She says there’s no ulterior motive and he apologizes for her missing the hit. She says as a single, working mother she misses everything. He tells her to go meet her family for ice cream. He insists he won’t be mad and sends her off with a kiss. She tells him he’s amazing and goes.
Brick pounds on Carter’s door and rings the bell. Carter answers in his robe and says he’s surprised they’re there. Brick asks what kind of party this is and demands to know where Magnolia is. Carter says there is no party but says he got an e-vite from her for her annual Daddy is away kegger. George says that’s a great plan and Brick says he gave birth to an evil genius and they tell him he gave birth to two.
Zoe comes back and tells Vince that he has a big sense of himself. She tells him he’s not a doctor, but a dentist. She tells him she is a doctor – she shouts it – and says there is nothing similar about what they do. He asks if she’s as turned on as he is and she yells no.
Lemon comes back to find Peter neatening up. She tells him that she needs something real and something with a future that he can’t give her. He says she’s amazing and says she nearly makes him want to change and get a white picket fence. She says nearly is the important word and he tells her sorry. He kisses her cheek and leaves.
At The Wine Box, Wade sits alone when Lucy comes and asks where his GF went. She tells him about the after party at her place and he says he’s not that guy anymore. She says he knows where to find her if that guy shows back up. He calls Viv and leaves her a message telling her he hoped she had a fun night.
Lavon knocks on AB’s door drunkenly. She tells him he smells like a bar. He tells her he’s there to tell her that her new BF is bad news. He tells her he’s a Gainey and asks what other evidence she needs. She tells him this is sad. He says it was a plot to ruin his pitch for the county fair. She says it couldn’t be that he finds her attractive or smart and Lavon says he’s trying to protect her and she says that he’s being a jealous ex and after what he put her through, it’s just wrong. She tells him to go and shuts the door in his face.
Lavon is hungover at the Rammer Jammer the next morning looking worse for wear. Wanda fixes him coffee and she tells him to get it to go because people don’t want to see him. George says he heard they lost the county fair. Sgt Jeffries says that Ruby would have gotten them the county fair instead of getting drunk. Lavon admits that he showed up to AB’s and says she was duped. AB comes in and he tries to apologize to her but she cuts him off and says they have nothing to say to each other.
Magnolia is cleaning up from her rager when her dad shows up. She says it’s not what it looks like. He says it looks like she sent him running to Charleston while she had a huge party. She tells him to go ahead and let him have it because nothing is worse than life at her grandma’s. He tells her that his dream for her is to grow in to a responsible well adjusted young woman. He says if she just gets out of high school without being arrested or pregnant and it’s not looking good. He says he only wants the best for her and asks what he can do for her. She begs for a boarding school away from her Grandma that he will visit every weekend to make sure she’s on track. He says he’ll make some calls.
George comes in and asks Lemon how her date was and she says it was a mess. George says he’s sorry it didn’t go well. He asks her to go to breakfast and talk before they do the books. She says she already did them and she’s going to breakfast with AB. She asks him to finish inventory and takes off.
Wade pulls up at Vivian’s and he sees she and Charles coming out of her house. She tells him that Charles slept on the couch because they had too much wine. He leaves. She says it’s not a big deal but Wade doesn’t like that her ex stayed over. She says she needs to fix breakfast for Harley and he says he’ll call her later. He gets back in his car but is very upset.
Zoe finds AB at the RJ and tells her she missed her so much. She shows her the sign she got to sell her new house and AB says good for her. She tells her she has a new BF. Zoe wants to hear about it but Lemon shows up. AB tells Zoe that she and Lemon had plans and Zoe starts to leave but Lemon tells her she can stay. AB tells them about how she met Davis. Just three girlfriends out for a meal.
