James Maslow received the first perfect score on Dancing with the Stars season 18 and he, alongside his dance partner, just might prove to be the couple to beat this season. The Big Time Rush singer definitely knows how to work the ballroom and, in a new interview, he reveals his dedication to giving back to the community. Because when you’re a celebrity, he admits, it’s important to avoid getting wrapped up in the glitz and glamour of Hollywood and try as much as possible to be a good person, one who’s engaged in a variety of endeavors. We agree!

Vanichi’s Elevation-themed issue went live on April 15th  and showcases Maslow in contemporary styles from some of Los Angeles’s hottest new designer labels. Vanichi is a “publication dedicated to pioneers and innovators in fashion, entertainment, art, and beyond. Its pages provide an unbiased platform for imagination, vision, and one’s true voice.”

In the magazine, James recalls the time Big Time Rush performed a free concert for families in Newtown, Connecticut after the town experienced the horrible Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting.

“Scott Fellows, who put the band together, is from Newtown, so he organized it and we were thrilled to do it,” he explains to the magazine. “Those are the kind of things I love and wish I had more time to do.” He adds, “Being able to connect is what it’s all about.”

Be sure to catch James on DWTS next Monday where he’s sure to garner some more impressive scores!
