Hollywood after-parties are often filled with celebs imbibing until they are certifiably drunk as they celebrate the night away. Celebs may even have a drink or two before award shows to calm their nerves. But veteran actor Johnny Depp appeared completely drunk out of his mind while on stage presenting an award at the Hollywood Film Awards, reports Radar.
As Johnny Depp attempted to present the documentary award to Mike Myers’ Supermensch: the Legend of Shep Gordon, he stumbled, fumbled, stood and shifted awkwardly as he slurred, almost incoherently, through the speech. After fumbling with the non-moving mic, Depp began, “That’s the weirdest microphone I’ve seen in my life. I’m not very good at this kind of thing.” As he rocked back and forth and stood in an awkward position, he went on, “No-no. Watch, I’m going to read this thing.” He seemed to have to really zone in on the teleprompter before moving on, “For decades, Shep Gordon has been one of the most beloved and respected talent managers in the music industry. He is also currently the star of the documentary Supermensch – because he is a mensch – and I have been very, very, er … lucky to have him in my life. He’s someone I consider a great friend, somebody … uh, yeah, uh … incredibly, uh … loyal, loyal friend. Um. And so … you have to watch the film. Yeah, there you go.” The actor had a couple words blanked out by CBS before finishing with, “It’s one of those nights.” He was finally cut off as he, along with all attendees, were put out of their misery.
The faces of guests in attendance during the speech seemed to confirm that they were indeed confused with the behavior as well. Perhaps Depp is upset about his tumultuous relationship with Amber Heard. Depp seems to be self-medicating after finding out that his much younger fiancé is reportedly cheating on the original 21 Jump Street star with her current costar, who happens to star in the film 22 Jump Street, Channing Tatum. Seems Heard and Tatum, working together on Magic Mike XXL, have been caught being very flirty—leaving both Tatum’s wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Depp very concerned about their respective relationships. Depp has long been insecure since starting up with Heard after working with her on The Rum Diary, which ended with him leaving his longtime love Vanessa Paradis and his young children for the young bi-sexual temptress. For Amber Heard, it is a game, a challenge. Once she’s won the game, she gets bored and moves on. She is still very immature and feels Depp is boring, opting to stay home instead of frequenting the Hollywood nightlife.
Depp has struggled with his drinking for years, and his relationship with Amber has made it much worse. This presentation, however, was a complete embarrassment. It will likely get worse once Heard officially dumps him.
