Justin Bieber landed on the cover of Rolling Stone and, while the feature article doesn’t glorify the singer, it’s hard to look past the fact that they gave this coveted spot to — in some people’s eyes — an undeserving candidate. Apparently, the feature article takes an in-depth look into “the egg-throwing, hard-partying, drag-racing, arrest-resisting, brother-patronizing, lightning-quick fall of a pop icon.” Sounds like an intriguing read, does it not?
While I think it’s hard to pinpoint the source of Justin’s erratic behavior over the past months, the magazine claims the source of Bieber’s troubles stem from the presence of his father, Jeremy. Supposedly, the two act like best friends, not like father and son, and this is generating some problems. “His father’s not a great influence,” says the mag’s source. “They’re almost not like father and son — it’s more like two best friends.”
The sad part about Bieber’s situation is that he does have a strong support system in place — people who are actively engaged in trying to maintain his well-being. But there’s only so much friends and family can do before there’s a breakdown. Reportedly, Usher (Bieber’s longtime mentor), mother Pattie Mallette, and manager Scooter Braun flew down to Panama recently to meet with the singer, in an effort to bring the signer back down to reality.
The magazine describes this meeting as not an intervention per se but rather a discussion, a “conversation, reminding him of the people who care about him, and to consider things to do about it.”
Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like their little chat worked, as he was caught taking a pot-filled flight to NYC after he finished up his time in Panama. And guess who was right by his side? His father.
If Justin Bieber wants to maintain a career that has any hopes of lasting through the years — one similar to Justin Timberlake’s — then he’s going to have to get his act together. One day, Rolling Stone isn’t going to want him on their cover, no matter how crazy his life is at the moment or how much talent he has dawdling in his past.
Do you think The Beeb’z harsh article in RS will be the kick in the butt he needs to reboot his tame life? Or is his appearance in the mag a kiss of death for his career?
