Kate Middleton (the ‘reluctant’ fashion icon) and Prince William have never been the ones to stick to tradition, but they’ve often been forced into doing things that they weren’t necessarily ecstatic about. Exhibit A: going on a public babymoon to Balmoral, weeks after they’ve been fighting. Trust me, this vacation was not their idea. Kate Middleton and Prince William may be making public appearance after public appearance, but Kate’s departure to her Bucklebury home and her parents’ arms wasn’t just because of her sickness. Even after Kate Middleton started feeling better and even after she was forced into London to meet her royal engagements, The Duchess of Cambridge was still heading back to Bucklebury to sleep – and without Prince William, no less.
There’s plenty of evidence to suggest that Kate and William must have been fighting over the last few weeks, but when you’re the royal heirs to the largest monarchy in the world, you don’t get to fight like a normal couple. No, you have to do it in secret and hide it from the press, the public, and every other damn spy looking to leak your business to the media.
Anyway, Queen Elizabeth used her considerable royal influence to set up this Balmoral ‘vacation,’ and force Kate and Will to spend some time together. Right now, Queen Elizabeth is supposedly intent on getting Kate and Will back living together at Kensington, and Kate away from Bucklebury. For one thing, Kate can’t really work that much from Bucklebury, as much as she ‘works’ to begin with. For another, the heir and his wife being separated looks plenty suspicious and will slowly start to remind everyone of Prince Charles, Princess Diana, and Camilla Parker-Bowles – and we all know how that situation turned out, don’t we?
And finally, the Queen won’t want the Middleton family [but especially Carole Middleton] influencing Kate and ruining her marriage to Will. Many of the royal family don’t love the Middletons, thinking of them as commoners, and even Kate herself as something of an arriviste, and they’ll not want Kate [and by extension, Prince George] to be spending that much time away from Kensington.
So now, the question is whether Kate will agree to come home to Will and Kensington Palace after the make-up babymoon, or whether she’ll head back to Bucklebury. What do you guys think? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
Update: Kate Middleton will make her next public appearance accompanied by Prince William in Wales on Saturday, November 8, where the royal couple will do a meet and greet at the Valero Pembroke Refinery followed by attending the Wales vs. Australia Rugby Union match – what fun for The Duchess of Cambridge! Of course the palace wants to quell the rumors of marriage trouble caused by Kate’s extended stay at her mom’s house in Bucklebury. Expect to see lots of couple togetherness over the next few weeks as the palace works its propaganda promoting the perfect marriage of Kate and Will… we know better, don’t we?
