Prince Harry worked very hard to get the Invictus games under way, but unfortunately, Kate Middleton, one of the biggest celebs who was supposed to attend couldn’t appear at the event due to her debilitating morning sickness. Kate Middleton is pregnant with her second baby, and that’s great news – BUT she’s also sick with Hyperemesis Gravidarum, and that’s terrible news. The Duchess of Cambridge is expected to cancel all future public appearances at least until her health returns to normal.
Prince William has spoken to the press about Kate’s illness, and he definitely looked tired and worried about his wife and his unborn child. Even the press office at Kensington Palace [who usually shy away from commenting on anything] released a statement yesterday, revealing, “The Duchess of Cambridge will not attend the Opening Ceremony of the Invictus Games this evening or the Athletics event tomorrow. The Duchess’s attendance on the forthcoming visit to Malta will be kept under review and a decision taken closer to the time.”
Kate is definitely still in her first trimester of pregnancy, probably around the 4-6 week mark [which is when the illness usually kicks in]. Unfortunately for her, the morning sickness doesn’t really abate until the end of the first trimester, which means that she’s still got a few months of suffering ahead of her. The royals seem uncertain about Kate’s presence at future public appearances and her visit to Malta, but I think we can say with confidence that there’s no way she’s going to be traveling anywhere for the next few months. She’s very sick, and pushing her body could increase the chances of a miscarriage – a chance that nobody is willing to risk. Instead, she’ll probably alternate resting at Kensington and Anmer Hall, with an army of servants at her beck and call.
