Kate Middleton Suicide Nurse Prank DJ Mel Greig Claims She Tried to Prevent Call From Airing (VIDEO)

In December 2012 two popular Australian DJ’s made a prank call (Mel Greig and Michael Christian) to the hospital where Kate Middleton was hospitalized for severe morning sickness and after a nurse patched them through to the duchess’ ward the rest became history. Jacintha Saldanha was the nurse who took the call and ultimately took the brunt of the fall for the prank. The scrutiny was so intense that within three days Jacintha was found hanging in the nurses lounge at work with a suicide note that blamed the DJ’s for making a fool out of her.

Mel Greig made the prank call along with her then on-air side kick, Michael Christian. She has since left her job at the station and on Sunday night Australia’s Channel 7 aired an interview with Greig, the first that she has done. The segment was actually filmed in September of 2013 and according to Greig life has been pretty hellish. Her family has received numerous death threats from people insisting that Greig must die – an eye for an eye and that she should be punished for Jacintha’s suicide.

To hear Greig tell it she doesn’t really need anyone else to hold her accountable because she’s doing a great job of punishing herself. Greig says that from the very start she blamed herself 100% for Jacintha’s death. She also wants people to know that she did try to stop the prank call from ever airing. Apparently the radio station normally got permission from everyone that was put on the air and when she learned that this prank call was going to air without permission she challenged the brass. Greig says that she couldn’t understand why the normal protocol wasn’t being followed for such an important call. Do you believe that Greigs really did try to get her bosses to follow the normal protocol? If they did the prank call would likely have never aired. Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
