Kate Middleton and Prince William land in New York City on Sunday, December 7. They will likely land in a private airfield, with several senior officials on hand to receive them. They will travel by motorcade to their hotel [[reportedly the Carlyle Hotel], and after freshening up and resting for a few hours, will head to to their first private engagement with the American Friends of the Royal Foundation, which is a group that helps the royal family promote artistic and philanthropic activities.
Then, on Monday December 8, Prince William and Kate Middleton will temporarily separate for the day, with William heading to Washington D.C. and Kate staying in NYC. Prince William will reportedly attend an anti-corruption conference at the World Bank, where he’ll discuss the ban on transporting illegal wildlife across borders. Sure, his father’s stance on hunting and the controversy surrounding it probably won’t help his case much, but at least he’s trying, right?
After that conference, William will head to a lunch at the World Bank to discuss fighting illegal ivory trade, following which he’ll head back to NYC for an afternoon reception hosted by the Royal Foundation.
Meanwhile, Kate Middleton and Chirlane McCray [the ‘first lady’ of NYC] will visit a local child development center, which basically deals with providing education and mental health services to local children and families. After that, Kate will head to a lunch hosted by the British Consul General in New York, which is followed with the biggie – the basketball game with Beyonce and Jay-Z.
Prince William and Kate Middleton will reunite for the NBA basketball game in Brooklyn, which will probably be the most publicized event of the entire trip. The game is basically part of an effort to launch a ‘collaboration between The Royal Foundation, United for Wildfire, and the NBA’. Plus, it’s likely that Beyonce and Jay-Z will be sitting courtside, and wouldn’t it be just the thing if Kate Middleton and Prince William join them for a photo op?
Finally, on Tuesday December 9, Kate Middleton and Prince William will both visit a inner city development foundation, plus another youth organization. Both Kate and Will have been very passionate in their advocacy of homeless youth education, and this will be the perfect opportunity for them to get more involved.
After that, the royal couple will attend another event celebrating British ‘talent’ in the ‘creative industries’ of New York, a.k.a. there’ll probably be a ton of celebrities at this event. After that, Kate Middleton will have a small break as Prince William heads to a technology themed event later that evening.
The couple’s final event will be at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and will be celebrating the University of St. Andrews 600th Anniversary Dinner. It’s a big deal, considering that Kate and Will met at the university, and years later, they’ll be attending the anniversary as one of the world’s most famous couples.
And that wraps up the royals’ trip to NYC – short, sweet, and without Prince George.
