Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in a Twilight movie sequel, no, FKA Twigs isn’t letting go of RPataz. But Twihards might just see Kristen back in the Twilight fold! Guess what, Twi-hards? 5 More Twilight movies for you! Stephenie Meyer recently announced that she had partnered with Lionsgate and several female filmmakers on a short film initiative, where aspiring female filmmakers can compete to create 5 short films based on the Twilight saga. This contest will be ‘multi-phase’ and utilize crowd sourcing platform Tongal [partnering with Women in Film and Facebook], and at least five directors will be chosen to direct the films.
The shorts will reportedly, “be based on a broad spectrum of characters from the Twilight universe, with guidance provided by Meyer’s encyclopedic The Twilight Saga: Official Illustrated Guide.”
The panel that will select the winning shorts will include Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke, Kate Winslet, Octavia Spencer, and of course, the name best associated with the Twilight Saga, Kristen Stewart.
How do we feel about this? On the one hand, more Twilight – which is just UGH at this point. But on the other hand, it’s an opportunity for female filmmakers, which is always a good thing. Interestingly enough, it’s also providing an opportunity for Kristen Stewart to reconnect with her Twilight fans, even though she has tried her best to sever her connection to the series since the films ended. Maybe she realized that Twilight was a huge boon to her career, and without it, she would probably not have the career she has now? I mean, we’ve even heard that Kristen was interested in participating in another full-length Twilight feature, and she was trying to convince Robert Pattinson to do it as well. Of course, Robert Pattinson wouldn’t be caught dead in another Twilight film, so Kristen’s on her own on that one. Really, maybe it’s Kristen Stewart finally coming to terms with her place in the Twilight universe, and realizing that apart from Twilight and her affair with Rupert Sanders, most of the public wouldn’t know a rat’s ass about her.
