Mark Wahlberg Wants Pardon For Blinding Vietnamese Man in Racist Robbery – Seriously?!

Most people forget that before he was a movie star, Mark Wahlberg was a violent racist criminal. Oh, I’m sorry – was I being crude? Well, that’s nothing compared to what Mark Wahlberg did when he was sixteen years old. For those of you who don’t know [because Mark’s PR team is fantastic and has done a great job of burying this stuff], Mark Wahlberg whacked a middle-aged Vietnamese guy with a stick and called him, ‘Vietnam fucking shit.’ As if that wasn’t enough, Mark continued drinking and attempted to steal two cases of alcohol, during which he beat up another Vietnamese guy with a stick so badly that he blinded that guy in one eye. That’s right – he BLINDED a guy for being Vietnamese.

Anyway, Mark was charged with attempted murder and he plead guilty, leading to 45 days in jail. However, he never really showed any remorse for his actions at the time, and honestly, still avoids the topic whenever possible. In a 2006 interview, Mark Wahlberg basically admitted that he never even apologized for blinding that guy, and in summary, didn’t even feel that bad about it because it was all in the past, man.

He reportedly said, “You have to go and ask for forgiveness and it wasn’t until I really started doing good and doing right by other people, as well as myself, that I really started to feel that guilt go away. So I don’t have a problem going to sleep at night. I feel good when I wake up in the morning.”

Um… so Mark Wahlberg blinded an innocent Vietnamese guy in one eye, but feels fine waking up in the morning because he ‘does right by other people’. Seriously?!

Oh, but guess what? Mark Wahlberg is willing to fess up and apologize, even though it’s been more than two decades since that 1988 assault. More specifically, Mark wants an official pardon because that would clear his record, and allow him to run for office and get involved in all sorts of political shenanigans. Of course, never mind that Mark still hasn’t actually reached out to the poor Vietnamese guy, nor has he attempted to apologize directly to him. Instead, he’s going on and on about how he’s a good person now, and how he should get that pardon because he’s ‘doing right’ by other people. Disgusting.
