Whenever a Hollywood couple lasts more than two decades, I’m immediately suspicious. Call me cynical, but this industry takes even the most devoted couples and sorely tests the boundaries of their commitment. In the case of Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas, it doesn’t matter that they’ve been married as long as they have. It only matters that the cheating rumors are starting to get louder and louder, until we start to wonder whether there’s any truth to them.
For one, Melanie’s still in Los Angeles while Antonio has been having cozy dinner dates with random brunettes on the French Riviera. A source tells the National Enquirer, “Melanie saw the pictures, and she’s both furious and heartbroken.”
This ‘cozy’ dinner reportedly came three days after Antonio’s and Melanie’s 18th wedding anniversary, which probably just adds to the insult. Plus, there’s also the fact that Antonio was rumored to have walked out on Melanie a couple of weeks ago to spend the holidays in Spain, and the timeline seems to match. If Melanie and Antonio were on a break, it would make sense why Melanie wasn’t with Antonio on the French Riviera, as opposed to some random woman.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of Antonio cheating on Melanie, but if they really are on the verge of a break up, is it still considered cheating? But then again, this is not just a recent occurrence, with rumors going back almost ten years. Some Hollywood actresses look the other way while their husbands cheat, and some have open marriages, and it’s very possible that their marriage falls into one of these categories. However, whether they end up getting divorced or not, it’s clear that Antonio’s and Melanie’s marriage isn’t in a very happy place right now.
