Since Michael Muhney was let go from the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless, his loyal followers have been waiting on the edge of their seats to see where he would be working next. Rumors have run rampant that he was possibly returning to Y&R as Adam Newman or even heading over to ABC and starring in General Hospital. Some hopeful fans even predicted Muhney would get a primetime gig and put his acting skills to good use.
Well, after nearly seven months Michael Muhney has announced his next move, and he’s not starring in a daytime soap opera or even a primetime TV show. He has landed a part in a movie! On July 14th Michael Muhney posted on Twitter, “Whew! Flying to New York tomorrow to take some meetings…then back to L.A. on Sunday to begin filming a movie!” Muhney didn’t give up any information on what movie he will be appearing in or whether it is even a major or minor role. One thing is for sure though, whatever film cast him is sure to garner a lot of attention from his loyal soap fans. This actually isn’t the first movie Muhney will have appeared in, he shot a handful of made for TV movies in the late 90’s before his career picked up. And, in 2008 he starred opposite Val Kilmer in a crime thrilled called Columbus Day.
Michael’s mom already made it pretty clear on Twitter that Muhney wasn’t returning to The Young and the Restless, and the scenes starring Adam Newman’s hands were not of Michael. Fans were still holding on to hope that he would cross over to General Hospital with his co-stars Michelle Stafford and Billy Miller. Although, the fact that Muhney is currently working on a movie is a pretty good sign he isn’t returning to daytime, it is worth mentioning that Michael said he had to “take some meetings in NY.” ABC’s network headquarters are in New York City, so the possibility that he is working out a contract with General Hospital isn’t out of the realm of possibility.
So Muhney fans, what kind of movie do you think he is working on? Do you think it is a major blockbuster, or a made for TV movie? Are you still clinging to hope that Muhney is headed over to General Hospital in the future? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
