This year 22 year old Barbra, an Irish Traveler, is having a Christmas wedding and she’s invited the cameras from TLC to come in into her life and film everything. The cameras are going to be recording both the events leading up to her wedding and the happy day itself. But there’s a slight chance, albeit a very small one, the day won’t turn out as Barbra hopes.

Because it’s going to be a Christmas wedding, Barbra wanted it to be extra festive. Her cake is going to be big and glitzy. And if it’s not then she’s already warn the baker that she knows where the other woman lives.

But Barbra’s hair ended up being what caused her the first of many problems. She went to the hairdressers and had even sat through an entire test run. Yet she hadn’t liked the hair she had settled on.

Barbra knew she didn’t like the hair and her family that had come with her hadn’t liked her hair as well. And still they hadn’t said a word to the hairdresser. So of course the hairdresser is going to believe she did get a great job and she does. The producers behind the show had later talked to her and her reaction was “the bride didn’t say anything so she must have liked it”.

Then, when it wasn’t her hairdresser giving Barbra a headache, it was her bridesmaids. They were supposed to try on their dressers and were actually a no show.

Meanwhile, Rozanne who’s an English traveler is celebrating Christmas in the traditional sense. Or in other words not trying to plan a Traveler wedding. Instead Rozanne and her siblings are gearing up for all the presents they’re going to get. And fighting with each other about decorations and Father Christmas. Though the oldest, Rozanne, also happens to be looking for a sexy Christmas outfit she could rock on the day of.  Like a sexy snowman or sexy elf for instance because you know that’s just how they celebrate the holidays.

Then there’s Alfie who’s a Romany but who sees the holiday season as a way of making money. He’s holding down several job all at once and more importantly he wants to start a new business venture. Alfie wants to be known for throwing great parties for the Romany/Traveler community. So he’s booked a club and has invited everyone he knows.

If he can make a success out of his parties then he’ll have been set for life. Other people tend to shun those kinds of parties seeing as there’s been a long held belief the traveler community is full of troublemakers. So if Alfie can make his parties work then he’ll basically be the only one catering to that community.

On the day of Barbra’s wedding, she went to her hairdresser and sadly found out the hairdresser had closed up her shop for the day. There seemed to be a death in the family but Barbra is not all that sympathetic. Especially as she had to rush back to the hotel and have her family do her hair which is something no one had been planning on.

And after the hair got sorted and all the little bridesmaids were accounted for (there was a moment there), Barbra got married. The wedding was just how she envisioned it and the cake was on point. But the snow machine she had ordered was broken. So there was only two minor mishaps.

Elsewhere, another Irish traveler was planning a bit of an usual Christmas vacation. Crystal and her sister Frances were flying to Ireland to go spend the holidays with their family. And by family they meant both the living and the dead.

According to their culture, travelers simply just don’t forget about the people they’ve lost. They got to visit them on special occasions. Like birthdays and holidays. And for the girls to make their visit – they have to drive for miles on end and then take a ferry.

But they ended up missing their ferry and there wasn’t any other ships leaving that night. So their trip had to be postponed for another day.

Though when they did make it to Ireland along with their grandmother – it was easy to see why they went. They said if their family was still living then they would have been the ones traveling to spend the holidays with them. But as that is not the case – it was only fair the ladies didn’t ignore them.

A lot of the time, particularly during the holidays, traveler tend to buy already cooked turkeys. And one of the men in charge of the cooking has an explanation for that. He believes he’s so in demand because there’s not a lot of room in caravans.
And he’s right. There isn’t a lot of room. When Rozanne and her siblings opened their many present – no one could walk through the caravan without knocking into something or stepping on wrapping paper.

As for the newlywed, Barbra, she and her husband stuck around to celebrate the holidays with their families. Gift exchange and all.

THE END!
