NASHVILLE continues on ABC tonight with a whole new episode. Tonight’s episode is called, “We’ve Got Things to Do,” and on tonight’s season 2 episode 17 Juliette is feeling upstaged by Rayna’s artist announcements and decides to take matters into her own hands. Did you watch the last episode before the break? We did and we recapped it here for you!
On last week’s episode after performing her manifesto song at her Opry induction, major pop labels were vying to sign Juliette, overwhelming Avery, who could barely afford to take her to dinner. Rayna had major money troubles of her own, since Tandy’s been bouncing checks around town for Highway 65, affecting Rayna’s ability to sign new artists. Deacon found that life on the road was filled with temptation when he ran into an old friend, Ruth Bennett (Charlotte Ross) at an AA meeting, and Scarlett became more enmeshed with Liam.
On tonight’s episode Juliette has a design on how she would like to announce her new deal with Highway 65, however, Rayna has a calculated roll out plan in mind. Juliette’s emotions get the best of her at a label party when she starts to feel that she is being upstaged by Rayna’s up-and-coming talent. Will offers Deacon and opportunity of a lifetime though he finds the excitement short-lived after noticing Megan’s strange behavior. Teddy is at odds with Maddie when he finds out she is fixated with her music, and Will is concerned about his past catching up with him so he makes Layla an offer she can’t refuse.
Tonight’s episode looks like it is going to be great and you won’t want to miss it, so be sure to tune in for our live coverage of ABC’s Nashville at 10:00 PM EST! J asks to speak to Rayna in private.

Rayna says if he agrees, it’s good for her.

She asks him to tell Teddy that she’s talented so he’ll back off of her. Deacon reminds her that Teddy is grieving and she should give him some slack. Maddie takes this well.
Teddy comes to Megan’s office and says he wants her to head a new victim/offender task force and wants her to run it. She acts cold and tells him what happened was a mistake and says she’s with Deacon but that he shouldn’t come to her office. She asks him to go. He backs away.
J leaves Avery a message about her chilly reception at Rayna’s label and asks him not to tell anyone about it. Will comes to her door and asks her why she kicked him off the tour. Will says he needs the tour and says he can’t be a one hit wonder. He’s taking it personally. He pressures her but she says it’s a label thing and she can’t promote an Edgehill artist on her tour. He tells her he thought they were friends and walks out.

Gunnar finds Zoe and asks her why she’s gotten wishy washy on the band thing and asks what’s going on. She tells him she auditioned for a back up singing gig and it went well. She says she went on others that didn’t go well but she didn’t tell him because she didn’t want to feel like a failure. He asks about it and she says it’s a national tour but she doesn’t know who with. It would be for six months with an option to extend. He’s not happy she was keeping this from him.

He tells her not to be jealous and she says she’s pissed. She tells him he doesn’t want to ride her coat tails but he can grab onto Scarlett’s with both hands. Now Avery is pissed and tells her he’s not going to the party. He stomps out while Juliette screams that she’s glad he won’t be there because that’s one less person whose feelings she has to tiptoe around.
Rayna and Luke walk into the party to much fanfare while her single plays. Deacon and Megan are there and he tells her she’s been working too much. Scarlett watches Rayna work the crowd and says she makes it look easy. Deacon tells her she’s had year of experience and used to make him quiz her on names. Scarlett excuses herself and pops a pill. Daphne runs over to find Luke and hug him. Teddy congratulates Rayna and tells her he was 8 seconds away from grounding Maddie and not letting her come. Rayna agrees to back him up. He’s going to leave but sees Megan and decides to stay.
Glenn and Juliette walk in and she forces a smile and starts to work the crowd. Maddie tells Luke about Deacon’s tour and Luke says he’s too good to be playing dive bars. Luke asks Deacon to come on the road and open for him. Deacon asks for a day to run it by someone. Megan tells Teddy to leave her alone and Teddy tells her that it will not work out with Deacon. He says they are better together and he knows it. She walks away.

She asks if he can get her on Luke’s tour and he says Jeff will never go for it. Layle says he’s not helping her, not sleeping with her and agreed to a tour without talking to her. She asks if he wants to be in the relationship but he doesn’t answer.
Juliette greets Deacon and Scarlett comes up. Marcella from Clear Channel introduces herself and says Rayna has been raving about her. Deacon agrees that she’s a top talent. Tandy asks what she’s doing and Rayna says “nothing good.” Juliette introduces Rayna to come sing her single and tells the crowd she’s thrilled that Rayna signed her to Highway 65 and will be shepherding the next phase of her career.
Rayna comes down off the stage and asks Juliette what the hell she was thinking. She pulls her backstage to chew her out. J tells her that she was tired about hearing nice things about what she was saying nice things about everyone else. Bucky and Glenn say the reporters like the new song but not the new artist. The press wants to talk to them together and Rayna says to buy them a few minutes so she can strategize. She tells J to do exactly what she says.
Gunnar gives Will some tour advice for dealing with Luke. Zoe comes in and wants to know why the hell he’s giving her the cold shoulder. He says he’s tired of everyone else getting to sing while he’s stuck writing – he says that’s why he wanted the band. She says she doesn’t want to be gone on tour for six months but want the opportunity.
Maddie is listening to Deacon’s album when Teddy comes in and asks to see her project. It’s not done and she says whatever. He cancels her guitar lessons and grounds her for two weeks and she plays the Rayna card and says they are in agreement. She tells them he sucks and says she wants to go live with her real dad. Teddy ups the grounding to a month.
J comes home and finds Avery waiting. She tells him that she’s ruined her career by signing with another person that doesn’t respect her. He tells her that Rayna does respect her. He also tells her he won’t produce for Scarlett even though it would be a great fit for him. He says what he wants is for her to find a way to be okay with it.
Rayna tells Luke that J is narcissistic and self-destructive and could destroy her label. He offers to get Jeff to try and recruit her away. But Rayna actually doesn’t want to lose J to Jeff and says she’ll make it work. He tells her that he invited Deacon on the tour and she snarks and tells him and Will and Deacon to go out on tour and leave her there with Juliette.
Brent comes in and tells Will he can’t break up with Layla. He tells him that it won’t be long before the gay whispers start reaching Jeff’s ears. He asks if Tyler would out him and asks how careful he’s been. He says the bigger he blows up, the bigger the microscope on him will be. He says he talked Layla down. Will has nothing more to say. Brent leaves.
Rayna and Juliette have a sit-down. She tells her that she has a lot at stake and tells J that every penny of hers is on the line. Juliette says she’s sorry and asks what she can do to fix it. Rayna tells her she has an idea for them for the Opry show.
Will get a package for the tour and finds out he get a 45 minute set. Gunnar asks what’s wrong and he tells him Brent isn’t the only one. He admits that there were a few guys here and there along the way. Gunnar says maybe he’s not memorable and Will laughs. Will says he wishes he could just make it go away.
