Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka have been in a steady relationship for a few years now, but the tabloids continue their quest to break them up and have them divorce. The latest report, courtesy of Radar Online, claims that Neil and David are fighting a lot over David’s jealousy issues. Apparently, David made Neil quit his most recent play, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, because he was jealous of Neil getting close to other men.
A source tells Radar Online, “Neil and David came to an agreement that he would let Neil do Hedwig on Broadway for six months, including the rehearsals and previews. David was adamant that he not extend, partly, because moving to New York for longer than the summer would have been too disruptive for the kids.”
This part, I believe. They have young children, and everyone knows that constantly moving to different places is disruptive for them. But Radar’s story gets a little more screwy when they start introducing other elements into this story, most notably when they involve other men.
See, instead of stopping with the children reason, Radar’s ‘source’ also adds that David didn’t want Neil in NYC by himself because he’s afraid of other men flirting with Neil without him around.
Huh. Initially, I thought of dismissing these rumors as just that – rumors. But there have been many reports suggesting that David’s jealousy – not just when it comes to other men – has been getting in the way of their relationship. Apparently, David’s a little resentful that Neil’s career has taken off so drastically while he still remains in a rut, and he’s taking that out in odd ways.
What do you guys think? Could David have given Neil an ultimatum regarding his run on Broadway? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
