Tonight’s episode of Pretty Little Liars begins with Emily, Aria, Hanna, and Spencer standing outside the Ravenswood police department. They are about to tell Detective Tanner everything about Alison and Shanna, and then a huge TV screen flashes pictures of Alison in a nurse’s suit the day she visited Hanna in the hospital. A message from “A” comes across the screen, “We’re all in this together. Act normal bitches.” They realize that they can’t tell the police the truth because no one will believe they didn’t know Alison was alive after photos surface of her visiting Hanna over two years ago.

Emily and Spencer head to The Brew for coffee, Alison blows up their phones and they ignore her. She leaves Emily a message claiming her Dad is taking her out of town for a few days because he is nervous about the kidnapper.

Hanna heads over to Caleb’s house and he is sleeping on the couch. When she walks in Caleb jumps awake and says that she scared him. She finds a half drank bottle of liquor next to him, and he says that he drinks when he can’t sleep. Hanna tells him that they couldn’t go to the police because they seen the pictures of Alison leaving Hanna’s hospital room.

Emily shows up on Ezra’s doorstep and says that she needs to talk to him. Meanwhile Aria arrives at home and finds Mona in the livingroom with her brother Mike. Mona offers her some hot chocolate, but Aria says “no” and storms off.

Emily fills Ezra in on Alison’s kidnapper’s confession. She asks him if he ever heard the name Cyrus Petrillo when he was researching, and he hasn’t. He says that he will look in to it for her, and thanks Emily for trusting him.

The next day at school Aria fills the liars in on Mona and Mike’s budding relationship. Hanna has a theory, she thinks that the “A” message they got last night warning them not to come clean to the police was actually from Alison, not “A.”

Emily sits down with Paige in the quad, and tells her they have to keep an eye on Sydney because she is working with Jenna. Emily says she wants to talk to Paige about them, and they make plans to meet up with each other later.

Hanna wants to get Caleb help, his drinking is getting out of hand. Spencer says she has an idea and calls Toby at police school for help, he agrees to come over later. She finds a not in her bedroom from Melissa, it says: “I have to write this quickly, Dad is taking me to the airport. You’ll know the truth soon.” Spencer and Hanna are confused, they have no idea why Spencer’s Dad will make Melissa leave town.

Later Hanna fills Aria and Emily in on the mysterious letter from Melissa. While they are discussing whether Alison made a deal with “A,” Detective Tanner interrupts them. She says that she needs to talk to all three of them.

Spencer and Toby are at the Hastings House. Spencer brings up Caleb, and says that he won’t stop drinking and says that he drinks so he can sleep. Spencer can tell that Caleb is different, she says that he looks “haunted.” Toby says that he has had that look since he came back from Ravenswood.

Detective Tanner reassures the liars that they are going to catch Cyrus Petrillo, and instructs them to be safe and call the police if they see him. She asks them who they think killed Bethany Young, she reminds them that she was killed 30 yards away from where they were all sleeping. The liars all stutter and say they have no idea. Tanner obviously isn’t buying it.

Spencer receives a package in the mail from her sister Melissa. It’s a video that she recorded. In the video Melissa says, “Spencer you’re right, I have to tell you the truth before it’s too late. Dad’s taking me to the airport and I am going back to England. Maybe Dad’s right, there’s nothing to do but keep quiet. But, I can’t just leave you without telling you the truth, and you can do whatever you want with it. I saw you the night that Alison disappeared, I saw you fighting with her, with a shovel in your hand. Then I saw the body, I thought you killed Alison with that shovel. And, I didn’t want anybody to know. I couldn’t look at her face so I pushed her in and covered her up. I didn’t tell anyone what you did or what I thought you did. Now I know it wasn’t Alison, and I know she wasn’t dead. I buried her alive. Goodbye Spencer, I love you.”

Spencer, Toby, and Hanna all meet Caleb at the grill. Hanna has arranged an intervention, Toby tried to talk to him but Caleb doesn’t want to hear it. He snaps, “Who died and made you Oprah.” Meanwhile Emily is working at The Brew and runs in to Paige. She’s all dressed up and Emily asks her where she is going but Paige doesn’t answer, she says she has to go. Aria heads to the theater where she planned to have a family date. When she arrives she is annoyed to see that Ella cancelled and Mona came in her place. Aria sees Paige arrive at the theater with another girl right before the lights go out.

Caleb apparently gave in, and heads over to a corner of the grill to talk to Toby. Spencer and Hanna watch from a distance and think that they are making progress. Toby reminds Caleb that he has been to Ravenswood and he knows what it is like, Caleb informs him he doesn’t know anything and storms out of the grill. At the theater Aria whispers something in Mona’s ear when no one is looking, Mona looks upset and storms out.

Emily meets up with Ezra, and he shows her pictures he got of Alison and Cyrus standing together and talking after she returned to Rosewood. It’s obvious that she is not afraid of him like she told the liars. Ezra says that he did a background check on Cyrus and he has several aliases and half a dozen arrest records.

Aria heads to the bathroom at the theater where she finds Mona crying. Mona admits that Aria’s family should hate her and she doesn’t deserve Mike. She says she wishes that she had just died when she fell off the cliff. Mona says that she has just been trying to protect herself, that’s all she has ever tried to do. Mona warns Aria that when Alison is finished with her, she is going to come after the rest of the liars, especially since they know about Cyrus and what really happened in New York.

Spencer heads home and watches the video from Melissa over and over. She cries because she can’t believe that Melissa thought she had killed Alison. She says “Poor Melissa” out loud as she cries and talks to her computer screen.

Aria and Byron head home from the movie theater, Mike is taking Mona home. There is a knock at the door and Byron says it is Detective Tanner, he got a voicemail from her earlier saying she wanted to talk. Byron lets Tanner in and confronts her about talking to the liars without any adults present. Tanner says that there are so many smart people involved in her case, her job is getting more and more interesting. Tanner says that the Rosewood police are interested in Aria, she might not have committed murder but she has made her case more complicated. Tanner says that one of the girls has come forward and wants to tell her the truth and she is meeting with her tomorrow. Byron asks which girl is talking, but tanner refuses to tell him and leaves. Aria hides around the corner listening to their entire conversation.

Aria, Spencer, and Emily all meet up and try to figure out which girl is going to tell Tanner the truth. They realize that it must be Alison, Emily decides that they should use the picture Ezra gave her of Alison and Cyrus to stop her from talking to the police. Spencer announces that she has to show them something.

Caleb fills Hanna in on everything that happened in Ravenswood, and warns her there is a whole other world out there. He even confesses to seeing Miranda after she died. He is scared that when he sleeps, he is going to see Miranda and tell him that she is not okay and it is all his fault. Hanna reassures Caleb that they are going to get through this and kisses him.

Spencer, Emily, and Aria finish watching the video from Melissa and they are in shock. Spencer has a theory though, Melissa thought that Bethany was Alison because she was wearing her yellow shirt. She thinks that Alison had been planning for Bethany to take her place that night all along.

The episode ends with Caleb sleeping on his couch, and someone is watching him for outside of his window.

THE END!
