Prince Harry hates social media, especially Twitter. Can you blame him? Every single one of his public scandals has exploded thanks to social media and the wide-reach of Twitter, including but not limited to his Las Vegas naked debacle.
Harry was recently visiting a group of schoolchildren preparing for the Invictus games, and he told them, “I really quite hate Twitter.” He explained that the invasion of privacy was a major concern for him, as it would be for any young royal. He’s also previously complained about Twitter, especially when a fan took a picture of him and Cressida Bonas at the theater and posted it. The Mirror and several other outlets picked up the photo and published it, no doubt leading Harry to cite the invasion of privacy factor.
He also explained to the kids that he really wanted to tweet to get the word out about the games [which are a paralympic event for wounded servicemen], but he couldn’t bring himself to join the site. He said, “It’s very hard for me to tweet about the Invictus games…I would love to tweet about things I care about but it’s a fine line between what you should do and what you can do, and what other people want to know and what you don’t want them to know.”
Yeah, it’s a line that most celebrities routinely cross. However, there are actors like Leonardo DiCaprio who manage to use Twitter solely to promote issues they care about, such as the environment and third-world conflicts. I don’t see why it would be so difficult for Harry to follow that, or perhaps he’s just worried about what he’ll tweet if he gets drunk and forgets that he’s famous.
