Tonight on CBS their new suspense drama called, RECKLESS airs with another episode called, “And So It Begins.” On tonight’s episode Jamie tries to prove Vi’s ex-husband is innocent of medical malpractice, but a relationship with a former patient puts his case—and career—in jeopardy.
On the last episode, Jamie and Roy found themselves on opposing sides in civil court. Lee Anne Marcus sex tape was leaked to the media. Knox faces a moral dilemma when he discovered a dirty little secret that could hurt Joyce Reed’s mayoral bid.
On tonight’s show Jamie tries to prove Vi’s ex-husband is innocent of medical malpractice, but a relationship with a former patient puts his case—and career—in jeopardy. Meanwhile, tampering allegations complicate the jury selection in Lee Anne’s suit; and the love triangle between Jamie, Roy and Preston gets even more intense.

RECAP: A load of women sit in the lobby and Roy explains to Fortnum that he needs a second chair for Lee Anne’s case. Carol brings in juror profiles and tells her they need to work through lunch. Vi brings Jamie the juror pool and says it’s the largest one she’s seem. Preston shows up with donuts for her and a kiss. He asks her to dinner and then goes and Vi asks if that’s a good idea.
Terry is at home chopping wood when a guy working for Burnside shows up. He says he knows there’s a million missing from an ATF bust. He says Burnside was a middle man and his new employer doesn’t like to act twice. Terry says he doesn’t have it but the guy says he’ll be back to collect. Alex comes into the office and Terry says his mom is out to lunch. He says he’s there about someone else.
Vi comes in and he says his dad is at work and he took the bus. He tells them that someone is suing his dad and asks Terry to help. Vi brings in Charles, her ex, to talk about his patient Madison Palmer. She got an infection from a tummy tuck that left her with infertility. He says he feels bad but isn’t at fault. He says his insurance company settled because it was less messy.
The woman is looking for another $5 million. Terry asks what’s messy about it and he says he was seeing the woman when he did the surgery. Terry advises him to settle and he says no so she suggests that they go for binding arbitration. Roy introduces Taylor to Terry and tells Terry that Taylor is his second chair. She tells him it’s smart to get a blonde second chair like Lee Anne.
He tries to hand her a list of jurors to strike for cause but she tells him no. He asks her to dinner and d drinks to talk but she says they have to be enemies from now on. He says they can do it tonight in private or in public in court and she says either way not together. She tells him she’s gunning for him and hopes he’ll still respect her in the morning.
Vi says she’s headed out to get her kids and says that Charles has really turned Alex around. She thanks Terry for stepping in to save another of hers. Vi tells her they could lose everything because all their assets are in Charles’ name. Terry says she won’t lose. Madison says when she and Charles started dating he insisted on many cosmetic procedures. She says she was a walking billboard for his practice.
She says and now she’ll never know the joy of bringing life into this world. Terry plays a recording of Madison threatening to ruin his life. She asks if it was before the surgery and infection. She shows that she missed four post-op appointments that would have detected them. Madison says she tried to reschedule them. Terry runs through a list of other surgeries she had before she met Charles.
Madison says that means nothing. Terry says she’s a plastic surgery junkie that became livid when Charles cut off her supply. Terry’s dad shows up and he asks how he’s out of jail with the attempted murder charges and he tells his son insufficient evidence are the two sweetest words in the English language. He tells Terry he needs money for his lawyer but Terry says he’s been suspended and doesn’t have it.
Roy asks Knox why he didn’t tell him that he suspended Terry and says it looks bad for the lawsuit. He tells him that Preston was undercover and that Terry was running guns with Waterman but now Preston refuses to implicate him. Roy asks how much Jamie knows and Knox says he told her that he only told her about Preston, not Terry’s involvement. Roy is worried about his case.
Voir dire starts for jury selection and Roy tells Taylor that the jury makes all the difference. Jamie tells Vi that her strategy is to find an alpha juror that can swing things her way. Roy says he has to eliminate the outliers and bad seeds so the rest take them to victory. Jamie asks how many have seen the sex tape – it’s most of them. A few say they can disregard this. They have the jury and Judge Moss swears them in.
Lee Anne is out for a jog. She pets a dog and the owner says she’s the… umm… and says he thinks it’s terrible what they did to her. She thanks him and runs on. Jamie tells her that she will be angry but can’t be. She says the jury will look to her for cues on when to care and when to be hurt. Lee Anne points out juror eight and says she spoke to him in the park.
Jamie says they have to tell the judge and Lee Anne says no one saw them. Jamie says it could be a set up and they just have to try and get her to make the decision they want. Barbara and Dec talk about his plan to become mayor. He shows her his plan to score a huge bunch of money and she asks about the land being up for historical preservation.
She tells him that money is nice but mayoral power is better. Dec says they can have it all. She reminds him he’s having a baby with his mistress and says the press won’t forget it. He says Lindsey hasn’t had a child before and wants it but will lie and says it’s not his. He says it could be a… then he stops and Barbara says it could be a boy and that’s what he always wants. She tells him he will never be mayor with a pregnant mistress living in Charleston and asks what he really wants.
Alex and his sister pick at each other. Vi asks Alex why he had pills in his pocket and he says he doesn’t know. She asks if this is why he’s doing well in school and he asks if she’s serious. He tells her she never had faith and that’s why she kept Alana and sent him away. He says it’s his dad’s jacket and that he borrowed it.
Vi confronts Charles about his former upper addiction and reminds him that it took her a long time to get him clean. She asks how they can defend against the negligence claim when he’s on drugs. She asks if he has a prescription – he doesn’t have one – then asks if Madison knows about the pills. She tells him he can kiss his medical practice goodbye if she does.
Roy interviews Preston about his undercover work and says if Jamie knows about Terry that she can make the whole department look corrupt. Preston says he’ll testify truthfully the Roy reminds him of all the lies he’s told. He says he has to lie undercover. Roy tells him to stay away from Jamie until the trial is done and Preston says he hates that he’s back with her.
Roy says he can do what he wants when the trial is over but says Jamie deserves better than him. Preston says he won’t turn his back on the department but will also do anything it takes to keep Jamie. Lee Anne knocks on Terry’s door and his dad is there and calls her a pretty thing. She tells him he’s disgusting and he tells her she has a peep show on the news.
She goes to slap him and he says her attitude makes him want to finish the job. He yells at his dad to get inside then chases her down. He tells her he just showed up and she reminds him that his dad tried to kill her. She says she knows what it’s like to be fired from the department and says she wanted to be a shoulder for him. She says she won’t come back if his dad is there.
Terry slams back inside and shoves his dad’s stuff in his bag. He asks if he’s choosing that white trash bitch over his own flesh and blood. He tells him to go shack up with one of his widow ladies. His dad says he owes him and that he would never have made it in this life without him. Terry hands him $4k and says it’s every cent he has in the world. He tells him they’re even. His dad says he’s weak like his mother and leaves.
Jamie asks Charles in deposition what he thinks caused the infection. He says it can be caused by a number of things. He says the problem is that she didn’t keep the appointments. He reads a statement saying he used a controversial new drainage technique that caused the infection. Jamie objects and then the other lawyer asks if he’s ever had legal concerns because of his exhaustion.
He brings in a police report that says he drove off the road two days before the operation. Charles says he’s one of the top surgeons in the country and didn’t make a mistake. The lawyer sasses him and the arbitrator says he’s heard enough and will render a decision. Vi calls for records on Madison digging into her past. Jamie is impressed and Vi says she doesn’t want his name tainted because of the kids.
Vi tells her that once Charles started climbing the social ladder, her “sister girl” ways didn’t blend. Vi tells her that she found a history of fertility treatments. She asks if they can get the records and says the office opens at 10 am in Atlanta. It will be tight to get there before the arbitration ruling.
Terry hears a dog barking and grabs his gun then goes out to investigate. He calls out for his dad but it’s not him. There’s a gun at his neck and he’s told to toss it. Terry says he doesn’t have the money and the guy pistol whips him. Terry says he’s a cop and can help find the money. The guy says he was a cop and now he’s a dead man. Then his dad is there and takes the guy out.
They head out into the bayou and dig a grave. They heave the guy in and his dad asks who the guy was. Terry asks if it matters. He asks his dad to come back to the house and he says he just came by to give him his money back. He says saving his ass is his job as his dad. Terry thanks him. His dad leaves and Terry finishes filling in the hole.
Vi runs in with the evidence right before the decision is rendered. She asks Madison who Dr Langley is and she shows her medical file that says that she was told six years ago that she could never have children. She says the infection didn’t cause her infertility. The arbitrator asks if she has anything to say, She doesn’t. The arbitrator rules for Charles and tells her to pay all the costs. Charles thanks Vi for believing in him and says she’s an amazing woman who is capable of anything.
He says losing her was the biggest mistake of his life and she says it was. She tells him they both made mistakes. She tells him she’s taking Alex back until he gets clean. He says he’ll stop with the pills but says she can’t have Alex. His son says Vi is right and that he’ll stay with his mom while he gets the help he needs.
Lindsey and Dec have a talk. He tells her that she has changed his world. He says he can’t be the man she needs him to be. He hands her a document and she asks what it is. He says it’s a promise to always take care of her but says she has to release him of any parental obligation, keep quiet and leave Charleston forever. She asks if he’s trying to buy her off and he tells her he’s sorry. She says this isn’t him, it’s Barbara.
She tells him to look her in the eye and tell her he doesn’t love her and want this baby. He says Barbara is his wife, that won’t change and says he doesn’t love her. She signs the papers and walks out with a tight smile but then stops at the door and tells him he’s having a son. That puts a pained look on his face.
Terry leaves Lee Anne another message and tells her his dad is gone and says they need to talk. He opens up a tool box and looks inside. It’s full of cash. The judge tells Jamie about the juror contact and says she thinks a mistrial and change of venue is appropriate. Judge Knox snaps and says her courtroom is free of bias and replaces juror eight with the first alternate. The judge calls the woman in and tells her she’s on the jury.
The juror makes a call and says it worked, she’s on the jury and will make sure they get the outcome they want. But who is she talking to? Jamie works on her opening statement that night. She says this case is about fairness. There’s a knock at her door – it’s Roy. He says he had to see her. She invites him in and he says it’s best if he says his piece there.
He tells her that he knows over the next few weeks they’ll be at each others throats but tells her no matter what, win or lose, when it’s over, he’s going to make her fall in love with him. He walks away. She smiles and sighs.
