Tonight on TLC Return to Amish, the Breaking Amish spin-off airs with a new episode. In tonight’s episode “I’m Amish, What Are You?” Mary argues with Chester about the church; the Schmuckers meet Abe and Rebecca’s newborn baby; Sabrina experiences complications with her pregnancy.
Return to Amish is a spin-off series of Breaking Amish that reunites viewers with the original group from Breaking Amish – the network’s highest-rated freshman series ever.
On the last episode Mary took a trip to New York City. Katie Ann tagged along with Mary and Kate, and talked to a New York guy! In Pennsylvania, Abe, Rebecca, Sabrina, and Jeremiah talked babies and shunning … while Andrew and Chapel had an important appointment. Did you watch last week’s episode? On tonight’s episode Abe and Rebecca introduce their newborn baby to the Schmucker family, but when Sabrina shows up, her pregnancy takes a scary turn. Jeremiah takes on the Schmucker ladies. And Mary argues with Chester about the church, while Chapel gets some news.

RECAP:
Mary lucked out on being there for her newest granddaughter’s birth, but she made up for it with a present from the heart. She made a quilt for the baby in the Amish traditional way and even gave it a design. She put ducks all across the border to make it look stylish.
When the Schmucker Family all arrived to see the baby they surprisingly remained on their best behavior while also remembering to congratulate the happy parents. Although there was one person missing in action. Chester didn’t show up to see the baby. Instead he stayed home and waited for his wife.
Mary’s leaving to go to NYC cost her husband his job. He’s been shunned because the Bishop couldn’t understand why or how he was unable to “control” his wife. And so when Mary did show up – Chester wasn’t all that happy to see her. He blames her for being shunned and a small part of him is confused about why Mary felt the need to leave. New York City is considered a vile place among their community.
Chester knows Amish but he’s only now beginning to question Mary’s faith!
The birth of the baby has made all of them think about their futures. Kate came down to see the baby and though she’s happy for her friends – she knows she has to return to the city as quickly as possible. Kate is practical enough to know she can’t model forever and that’s why she’s already figured out the next step in career. Kate wants to go into fashion design and hopefully one day have her own line.
So she’s settled. As for Sabrina, she’s going to need help. She truly doesn’t know anything about babies and Rebecca is the only one she can turn to. Sabrina hadn’t felt the baby kick in nearly a day and it took Rebecca’s reaction upon the news for her to realize that’s a bad sign. Though baby did mercifully wake up after some prodding.
Then there’s Jeremiah and just like Sabrina he’s struggling. He’s still staying at Mary’s house and Rebecca wants him to stop. She doesn’t want him hanging around anymore. She says it’s because she’s tired of people coming to her asking about him or the money he supposedly borrowed from them. So she wants him gone. And Jeremiah would leave if he could. What’s stopping him is that he doesn’t have anywhere to go. The only reason he’s sleeping on Mary couch is because he she’s the only one willing to take him in.
It made Rebecca think his life would be better if only he’d return to the Amish community.
But there is someone grateful for Jeremiah’s presence. And that’s Katie-Ann. He’s been helping Katie-Ann come out of her shell. Her parents wanted her to meet a guy she’ll eventually marry and she couldn’t do that out in the open with both her parents being shunned. So Jeremiah got her into one of the many Amish kids’ underground party.
She felt slightly out of depth being there and it was only after Jeremiah joined her that she ended up having a pretty good time. And she also met someone. Maybe not the one, but it got her off in the right direction.
And Jeremiah also helped Mary and Chester. He told them how they could still make money outside of their community. He introduced them to Amish auctions. It’s where Amish goods can be fetched for a high price and because they can’t sell to their own anymore – many have turned to this to support their families. So Jeremiah proving to be useful. Even as Rebecca goes on to make several obvious and hurtful mistakes.
Chapel, Andy’s girlfriend, invited Rebecca for lunch. She wanted to get a better understanding of Andy and so she asked a few questions about his past or more importantly his past relationships. And Rebecca told her everything. Every dirty secret Andy had was revealed to his girlfriend in what Rebecca believed to be funny anecdotes.
But by the end of it, Chapel wasn’t laughing!
