Unlike most of the supporting cast members of the Twilight franchise, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have careers that any actor would be envious of. They’re working with some of the best directors, best actors, and best writers in Hollywood, but would they ever return to the franchise that made them famous?
Rob, in particular, has been asked about the possibility of him returning to Twilight numerous times, and he’s always danced around the topic. I mean, his disdain for Twilight has never been a secret, and unlike those involved with Harry Potter or the Hunger Games, he’s never been proud of his work on the Twilight Saga nor has he ever seemed like he would want to return to it. And now, we have confirmation of that fact, straight from Rob himself.
While at the 2014 Cannes film festival for The Rover and Maps to the Stars, Rob spoke to Variety about the possibility of doing another Twilight film – or rather, the fact that he’ll never, ever do another one. He explains, “I couldn’t do another Twilight movie. I’m too old.”
He also references – again – the fact that no one thought Twilight would be a big deal, and it’s hard not to imagine that he regrets joining the franchise in the first place, especially with everything that’s gone on with his ex-girlfriend, Kristen Stewart. Of course, the fact that he thinks Twilight is a hokey piece of crap probably has a lot to do with him wanting to stay away, but really, who wants to keep playing the same role again and again? He now has the luxury to do indie films forever and stay out of the spotlight, and he probably thinks that the Twilight effect will fade off soon enough. Clearly, he underestimates Twi-hards.
Perhaps the real reason Robert is done with Twilight is Kristen Stewart! Don’t forget what happened a few months before the release of Breaking Dawn Part 2 – Kristen broke Robert’s heart by cheating with married with children director Rubert Sanders! Now that association of Twilight with Kristen’s horrible betrayal will forever linger in Robert’s mind and heart. You know that’s the real reason Robert Pattinson will never return to Twilight. Perhaps when Robert says he is ‘too old’ for Twilight he means ‘too smart’ to be fooled again by the Trampire.
