At the risk of sounding indelicate, will America embrace Nick Viall as their next The Bachelor 2015? Let’s just say that he doesn’t have quite the clean-cut aesthetic of past Bachelors, nor is he as handsome as them. But maybe this is a sign that the show is going in a more realistic direction, instead of always hiring model-esque men and women to lead their shows.
Nick recently came in as the runner-up on The Bachelorette, even though many experts had pegged him as the odds-on favorite after seeing his chemistry with Andi Dorfman. And Nick himself seemed confident that he would be chosen, even though that was undoubtedly helped by Andi sleeping with him. But alas, Andi ended up going with the stereotypical hunk, Josh Murray, which was no doubt a result of the producers’ pressure and her own aspirations to become an ‘actress’.
Either way, Nick seems to have made enough of an impact that the producers are looking to bring him back into the Bachelor universe. According to US Weekly, producers are ‘strongly’ considering Nick as the next Bachelor, with a source adding, “Viewers are interested in what he has to say.”
However, Nick will have to beat out several other contenders being considered for the spot, including rumored favorite Chris Soules and Season 8’s Arie Luyendyk Jr. Rumors of Chris taking the reins have been going viral for a few months now, and if I had to bet, I would put my money on him taking the spot. Yes, the audience wants to know more about Nick and his side of the story regarding Andi, but I don’t know if they’re invested enough to tune in to another whole season regarding his search for romance.
