He was exposed as a decedent and fled and someone mailed his daughters’s bones to him one by one. Zoey explains that a man came to her and said that he could protect her and help her start a new life, she doesn’t know his name – just tha the went by “The Decembrist.”
Liz meets Reddington in a run down apartment building, Liz is furious that he is working with Berlin again after everything Berlin them through. Red explains that if Liz really wants to make the person that killed Malya and put Tom in her life pay, then she will help him find The Decembrist.
Liz heads back to the office and briefs her team on The Decembrist and explains that he used Berlin as a pawn and hid his daughter and convinced him that she was dead. Aram pulls files on the bombing that almost killed Berlin in the 1990’s and fids that the agents working the case found the bomber’s DNA. He runs it through the system and matches it to a man named Karol, one of the most powerful men in Russia today.
Meanwhile back on the boat a member of the coast guard hears Tom yelling for help and heads down below. He finds him chained to a wall, and Tom is obviously relieved. Liz wants to go to Russia to interrogate Karol – but she and Harold are shut down, the power-ups inform them that they can’t go to Russia. Liz calls Reddington and tells him
The Decembrist’s name, and then she hangs up because her guard at the boat says that he has a situation. She arrives and finds the coast guard tied up with Tom. Tom tells Liz that if she doesn’t kill the coastguard they are all going to jail – but Liz says that isn’t an option. Tom jumps on top of the old man and strangles him to death while Liz’s guard holds her back. She screams at Tom to stop but he doesn’t let go of him until he is dead.
Berlin and Red arrive in Moscow, they have staged a diamond heist to draw Karol out of his safe house for a meeting. When Karol arrives at the meeting Berlin and Red take out his guards and corner Karol. He insists that he isn’t The Decembrist, he was just taking orders from him. He reveals that The Decembrist is an American named Alan Fitch.
Red meets with Fitch and Fitch insists that he didn’t break their truce, everything that happened with Berlin was before they sat down and worked out an agreement. Red warns him that he is in danger and Berlin is coming after him and wants revenge. Fitch is rushed in to unmarked cars by men claiming to work for homeland security, once they are en route to the safe house the men shoot Fitch’s guard and begin speaking Russian.
Red heads to Liz’s office ad tells her that they need to talk, he takes her in to an office and tells her that he knows Tom is still alive. Liz insists that she is using him as a source, Red sees right through her and knows she is still in love with him. He tells her that he needs all of Tom’s information on Berlin so that they can find Alan Stitch.
Liz heads back to the boat where Tom is tied up, and demands to know where Berlin is. Liz sets Tom free so that he can call Berlin. Ressler tags along with her and is not impressed, he wants to arrest Tom and take him in, but Liz won’t let him. Tom gets her an address where they are holding Stitch and Liz cuts his ankle monitor off and lets him go.
FBI agents storm the address that Tom gave to Liz, and take out Berlin’s guards. They find Fitch tied to a chair with a bomb strapped around his neck. They leave and the bomb squad send in a robot to scope out the bomb. They decide to move Fitch to an explosive proof chamber so that they can work on the bomb. They realize that if they cut the bomb collar off it will detonate and kill him. They have to start chipping away at the pipe – and then they realize that it has a timer on it too and it has been activated but they have no idea how much time is remaining.
Red uses Berlin’s daughter to track him down and demands to know how to deactivate the bomb. In the bomb chamber, Fitch orders the member of the bomb squad to get out of the chamber because he knows the bomb can’t be deactivated. Fitch orders Harold to bring in Red so he can talk to him, Red reveals that he can’t stop the bomb. Fitch tells him to take the folder he gave him and go talk to Mitchum and Harrisburg. He tells him to go to a safe in St. Petersburg and gives him the combination code – before he can finish the bomb goes off and Fitch’s blood sprays the glass walls of the chamber.
Red leaves and goes back to where he left Berlin, he sits down with him and they pouch each other shots. Berlin reminisces and talks about parades in Russia when he was a child, when the bottle is finished Red takes out a gun and shoots and kills Berlin.
Liz heads back to the boat where she left the dead coast guard’s body to clean it up. She finds Red there, he is already handling it. He’s upset that she didn’t come to him for help, Liz admits that she couldn’t do it, she thought she could kill Tom but she couldn’t. She breaks down and cries and Red comforts her and explains that when you live someone you are powerless.
Tom heads to a bar and meets up with Red, he gives him an envelope and orders Tom that he is never to see Liz again. Before Tom leaves he reminds Red that he was chained on a ship for four months and he never told Liz about his deal with him.
