The Young and the Restless’ Cynical Attempt To End Fan Boycott After Michael Muhney Firing Via Twitter

It’s too bad that CBS didn’t wake up and realize the power of fan interaction several months ago. If they had, then they would have really been aware of how badly all of the casting changes at The Young and the Restless were sitting and they may have been able to avoid the full blown meltdown that has occurred.  I guess the powers-that-be are attempting to get control of the avalanche of backlash brought on by disgruntled fans that felt Michael Muhney’s firing was the last straw that completely broke an already teetering show. This week they hilariously announced the start of Twitter parties with Y&R cast members.

Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea), Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe) and Greg Rikaart (Kevin) will live tweet during the show’s broadcast on January 28, starting at 12:30 p.m. ET. On January 31 at the same time, Joshua Morrow (Nick) and Christian J. LeBlanc (Michael) will also be discussing what transpires on the show via their Twitter accounts.

Obviously, this move is in response to all of the fans that have decided to boycott the show once Muhney’s final scenes air this week, not to mention the hundreds of thousands who have done so already. CBS is hoping that you guys will not only tune in, but absolutely jump at the chance to interact with some of the cast members. The big question is whether or not the gimmick will work. My guess is that the majority of the already pissed off fans aren’t going to be so easily reeled back in.  Instead they’ll view it as a small, slick trick that is coming about a month late! Am I right? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
