Tonight on NBC American Odyssey continues with an all new Sunday May 17, season 1 episode 7 called, “Soup Sandwich” and we have your weekly recap below. On tonight’s episode, Peter (Peter Facinelli) tries to dig up more evidence against Societel Mining by breaking into a warehouse, but the mission takes an unforeseen turn. Meanwhile, Odelle (Anna Friel) hopes to tell her story, but she and Aslam are forced to run, leaving Shakir Khan to fend for himself; and Harrison and Bob contact a man who may have answers to their questions.
On the last episode, after seeing Aslam’s (Omar Ghazaoui) picture on Shakir Kahn’s (Yousef Sweid) television show, Odelle (Anna Friel) was finally reunited with her young friend. Maya’s (Elena Kampouris) relationship with Cameron (Cameron Dallas) deepened, worrying Peter (Peter Facinelli), who believed that the young man was a Societel Mining spy. Still hot on his father’s trail, Harrison (Jake Robinson) inquires about a story his father never finished. Nate Mooney, Daniella Pineda, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Treat Williams also star. Odelle is shocked to her Luc’s woman has been killed and he says it was four American military. He demands the jump drive and says he’s going to call her home. There’s no answer and he says it’s time to die then throws the phone down and leaves. Qasim wants to know why Harrison and Bob are stalking him and they tell him they have questions. He gives another name – Sunil – and says he’s an auto mechanic. Harrison says he knew his dad and was his source on the Black Sands story.
He says he’s Randall’s son and says his dad’s death was about Odelle. He says he needs to know why. Peter is with Rhys and Jenji headed to the data center. Jenji says the security guards will never even know they were there and they head inside. Peter plugs in his access code and they go inside. They find the right server and hook in a laptop. Rhys tells Peter it’s his turn.
Peter types in his access code and Jenji shows Rhys a camera moving. He says they must be on separate systems. Peter asks what they do and Jenji says he’ll take care of it. Rhys says to relax and says they’ll only check the security tape if they think something is up. He tells Peter to press on and he does. Peter then steps out of the line of sights of the camera and Jenji knocks the camera aside.
The Jenji tells Peter to go to the woods and they’ll meet him there in five. Peter leaves. Peter is intercepted outside with a guy with a gun. He makes a call and tells someone that the others are inside and they discuss killing them all. Harrison asks Qasim about Odelle and why his father was killed. Bob recognizes Qasim’s fake name as a soccer player. Qasim says Randall was a good man but he can’t help him.
He says his life is simple now and asks how they found him. Bob says it was a photo from Odelle’s funeral. Harrison asks why he went to the funeral and then Bob offers to wipe away traces of him so no one else can find him. Qasim says he’ll give them one name if they will leave and never come back. He says Thomas Darnell. Harrison asks who that is. Shakir calls Diallo scared and says she’s in danger. She asks if he’s still mad at her.
Shakir finds Odelle and Aslam are ready to leave and Shakir says they can make a tape that she’ll give to the reporter. She’s confident that Diallo can protect her from anything. Peter is frog marched back inside and it’s just Rhys – the Jenji is gone. The man demands for Rhys to hand over the jump drive. He does. Then he asks again where their friend is. The lights go out and they disappear. The guy looks around and then Jenji attacks and beats him brutally with a hammer.
Peter asks him to stop. Jenji does then hands him the blood covered flash drive and tells Peter he’ll never see him again. Odelle makes a recording holding today’s newspaper and says her unit was killed by a drone and she’s been pursued by Osela who is still trying to kill her over what’s on this flash drive. She says this is proof of payments from SOC to terrorists groups including Al Qaeda. She says she will get this to the reporter in Paris somehow.
She asks the reporter to show this to her family then she speaks a personal message to Ron and Suzanne and cries then says she knows they thought she was dead. She says she’s so sorry for all the pain but says she’s alive and will continue to stay alive and will get home to them somehow. She says she loves them very much. She switches the camera off. Perer comes home and looks for a place to hide the flash drive.
Maya is freaking out and calls for Peter. She rants to her mother about Cameron being attacked in his apartment. Peter says school comes first and Maya asks why they don’t care that he was attacked. She says she hates them both then storms out. Bob calls Suzanne for breakfast then he goes to look at the flag from the funeral and Odelle’s dog tags. He looks at her wedding ring and notices something strange. He takes off his own ring and looks – something is off.
He says Lucy is coming over for lunch today and Suzanne says she’d rather not have company. Bob looks very upset now. Majors is at the airport looking to intercept the reporter from the New York Times. Majors finds out Odelle made another call home and they have coordinates but Majors says the reporter will lead them to her. He says they’ll wait. Shakir tries to call Diallo again but his aide won’t put her through. She then asks for Karim and he says she can’t call him.
Shakir says it’s life or death and Karim goes to speak to Diallo. He refuses the call and hangs up. Aslam and Odelle argue. She wants him to stay with Shakir but Aslam says she can’t get around with him. He wants to take her to Tienfala and Shakir says that’s clever and tells them to go. She promises to get tht tape to the reporter and tells them to protect each other. Shakir asks how they will get there. Aslam will drive them. They leave in her car.
The reporter unknowingly passes them as they leave and Majors and his crony are in a car behind the reporter. Harrison comes back to GBR asking to see Tenant again. He says to tell him it’s about Yusuf, Darnell and the Jack of Spades. The receptionist makes the call. That gets him past the gatekeepers and he goes up to the 30th floor. He asks Tenant what Darnell had to do with Black Sands and Qasim. He asks what makes him thinks he has anything to do with a dead terrorist.
Then he asks Harrison if Qasim is alive and says he wants him to know they didn’t double cross him and it was Amir Alamara. Harrison asks who that is and then asks how Darnell fits into this. Tenant asks if Qasim is alive. He agrees to tell him about Darnell if he tells him about Qasim. Peter goes to see Joe who says he looks like crap. Joe won’t let him in but walks outside with him. Joe asks what happened and he says they got evidence to bury SOC.
Peter says he can’t use it and needs Joe’s help. He says he needs him to testify then they can subpoena to get what he found in court. Peter says it didn’t go as planned and Joe asks how bad it was. Joe realizes Jenji did something and Joe says he needs to go home and wait for the cops because he’s screwed. He tells Peter to stay away from him and he runs back into his house. The reporter comes into Shakir’s club. Majors lurks nearby.
Shakir leaves Diallo another tearful message. Then she approaches the reporter and says she’s a reporter like her. She says Odelle had to leave because Osela soldiers are trying to kill her. Shakir says Odelle made a tape for her to take with her. She asks her to come upstairs but the woman won’t move and says to bring it to her there. Shakir agrees and goes upstairs. She goes to her office and grabs it but then Majors is there. He glares at her then steps closer.

Peter comes home agitated and goes fro the flash drive. Sarah asks why he’s home and he says he decides to work from home for a bit. He goes outside and into the trash can then puts the flash drive in there and takes the trash to the curb. Harrison is with Bob when he gets a call from Anna. She reminds him he was supposed to meet her with friends. Bob and Harrison are looking up Alama and it means leader of leaders in Arabic.
Anna hands up on him. They see a picture of Abdul Abbas. They wonder why one terrorist would betray another. Harrison says they have to go back to see Qasim and Bob reminds him that he told them not to come back. Lucy comes over to chat with Ron who says there’s something wrong with Odelle’s ring. Suzanne hears and asks about it. He says he and Odelle had their rings engraved but hers was one day off. He says today he looked at her ring the Army gave them.
Suzanne runs and looks and says the date is right. Suzanne runs to her computer and Tweets that the Army gave them back a fake ring and her mom is still alive. Odelle asks Aslam about Tienfala and he says Luc is there and can smuggle them out since he’s a drug dealer. She’s terrified and says he could sell her to the Ansar Dine. Aslam says Luc is there only hope. She says Luc wants her dead and asks how he can convince him to help them. Aslam says it’s up to her and drives them on.
Majors has beat Shakir brutally, taken off her wig and then threatens to break her windpipe until it breaks. He says she’ll suffocate in a very painful way. He says it’s her last chance. He asks where Odelle went. Shakir tells him Tienfala then says if she’s lying, he’ll come back to kill her. He throws her down. The reporter is getting impatient and ready to leave. She tosses coins onto the table.
Then she looks up and sees Majors and his crony leaving where Shakir went. She creeps upstairs and finds Shakir on the floor battered and bloody. She runs to her and says she’ll get help. She runs back out. Shakir looks near death. Peter sits at the table and Sarah watches him brood. Maya comes home after ditching school then says she saw Cameron at the hospital. She says he told her to ask her dad who beat him up. She wants to know why he would say that.
Peter sighs and says he has no idea. Sarah asks why she thinks her father would be involved. Peter says he has no idea what Cameron means and Maya says he’s lying then stomps off. As Odelle and Aslam pull up, Luc takes pot shots at them then screams and says wherever she goes, people die but not her. He says he won’t miss. He comes up and holds the gun right on her. He asks why she came there and she says he’s all they have and they need his help.
Peter’s doorbell rings – it’s a detective. Peter steps out and invites them into his office. They ask how he’s been and he says he’s working hard. They tell him they’re there on a homicide investigation. They show him the dead guy and says his prints were in the van that killed Danny Gentry. He says his ID was stolen and the woman says she knows. He asks where he was found and she says a vacant lot. He says he’s never seen him before.
Luc asks why Odelle is wasting her time. She plugs in the flash drive. She says an American company is funding terrorists then asks if he knows who Qasim is. He says he heard he was set up by Abbas. She says she heard he was killed by Special Forces. He says this is why they keep killing people. He says she’s in a war he doesn’t care about and says she and that little thief have to leave in the morning and get far away from him.
Peter calls Sofia and says he was there and they had cameras and fingerprints and says they have him for felony murder. He asks why he hasn’t been arrested and why SOC would hide the body. She says it must be what he found and he says he didn’t look because he was shaken up by the murder. He says he got rid of the information and she say she has to hang onto it and protect it with his life. The trash truck is almost at his house and he runs for it and tells the men no then pulls the cans back.
The detectives are in their car and see this go down. Aslam and Odelle lie down to sleep and she tells the boy that Luc won’t help them. She says she doesn’t know where they can go. She wonders if she can get a passport in Bamako. Aslam says it won’t work and says her photo is all over and says the people who make fake passports work for the Ansar Dine. He says if she did that, what would happen to him. He says he’ll take her. He says he knows the desert and can take her to Algeria and up the coast.
He says then they can talk about what she should do with him. She touches his face sweetly. He lies down to sleep. Ron kisses Suzanne goodnight. He tells her to take it easy and it may not mean anything. She asks if he’s not sure her mom is really dead. He says he’ll make some calls and tells her to get some sleep. She grabs her phone and listens to her mom’s voice mail message again. She hears the crackle and says whoever is listening in, you screwed up and got the ring wrong – we know she’s alive.
The military listens in. Peter scrubs off the flash drive when Sarah comes in. She asks what’s in his hand. He shows her the drive and says it’s work. She asks what this is about but he says he can’t tell her about this now. Then she asks about Cameron’s attack. Sarah says she’s not sure she believes him and he says to believe what she wants. Harrison and Bon come to see Qasim and find cop cars and flashing lights. He asks what’s going on and a cop says it was a false tip.
They back off and walk on. They wonder who called in a tip about Qasim. Harrison says he knows who. Harrison calls Anna and he rants to her about calling the cops about Qasim. Anna says he’s a terrorist and Harrison says she doesn’t know that. There’s a knock at Harrison’s door and he sees police there. Homeland security arrest him because his prints were found at the home of a known terrorist. He’s hauled out. Anna is a total bitch!
