Rumors about Austin Mahone and Becky G dating have been dominating the social media airwaves for the past few weeks, and Austin confirmed the rumors yesterday in an interview with MTV News.
When asked about his dating status and whether he was actually dating Becky G, Austin replied, “Yeah, you could say we’re dating. We’re dating. It’s crazy, I never had, like, a real relationship before, so it’s pretty crazy. It’s great being in a relationship with someone that does the same thing you do. We understand each other, we understand what we do.”
Ouch. Notice how Austin says that he’s never had a ‘real relationship’ before? Clearly, he’s insulting and dissing his Fifth Harmony ex-girlfriend, Camila Cabello, right? It’s not as though he dated Camila Cabello years and years ago, for him to dismiss their relationship that casually. If anything, the breakup is still fresh, especially for Camila’s fans, none of whom were pleased with Austin’s phrasing.
For those who don’t know, Camila Cabello and Austin Mahone split in the fall of 2014, but even then, pretending as though they didn’t have a ‘real’ relationship is definitely a diss. And Camila’s fans aren’t taking lightly to the diss, with many of them trending #CamilaDefenseSquad on Youtube.
Camila hasn’t responded to the diss, but she did tweet, “Damn….good to know.” It wasn’t a direct acknowledgement of Austin’s diss, but it’s clearly an indication that she’s heard about it. And obviously, how could she not?
