Despite what reps and handlers will insist, Beyoncé and Rihanna still don’t get along. Bey and RiRi continued their longstanding feud over Jay-Z at the Tidal Press Conference, fighting photo ops and forced displays of friendship the entire time.
The Tidal Press Conference was awkward to begin with. Trying to fit all the inflated egos of Nicki Minaj, Madonna, and Kanye on one stage was difficult, but Beyonce and Rihanna made things worse. The singers kept their distance backstage as a source shared with Naughty Gossip, “They refused to stand next to each other or speak with each other.” Handlers and coordinators went to great lengths to keep the divas happy. “The whole show was carefully choreographed and these two had almost nothing to do with each other,” the insider added.
The report does note that Rihanna and Beyonce did play nice for the cameras for a few seconds. The ‘Umbrella’ singer is working on a new deal and wants to make everyone happy at the moment. “Rihanna is in the middle of renegotiating her contract at Roc Nation, and loves and supports Jay. She has never been close with Beyoncé.” RiRi posed, looking moderately enthused, as Beyonce smiled before they spent the rest of the night avoiding each other.
Another photo shows Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Madonna, and Beyonce looking much happier as Keys and Madge separate the feuding singers. Maybe it means nothing, but only Alicia and Madonna shared the image of 4 music moguls, while Rihanna and Beyonce seemingly snubbed the pic from their social feeds.
The feud centers around their fight for Jay-Z. Rumors often circulate that Rihanna is trying to win Jay for herself and, paired with the allegations that he has a habit of cheating, she might have a chance. Beyonce and Jay-Z divorce speculation seems never-ending, and Rihanna has caused several of their arguments. As we reported in February, Beyonce was allegedly caught screaming at Jay while having dinner in a Sushi restaurant in Los Angeles. During her rant, Beyonce used the words, “That bitch, Rihanna!”
If that tale is true, it sounds like Jay-Z has his hands full. Beyonce and Rihanna may not have knockdown, drag out fights, but it’s clear they do not like each other. The Tidal press event was no exception. That singular photo of the two together probably took a LOT of coercing.
