Six months after Bobbi Kristina Brown was hospitalized after being found face down in her bathtub with teeth knocked out and other shocking injuries, she has lost her fight for life. Bobbi Kristina passed last night at Peachtree Christian Hospice surrounded by friends. But now events will pick up pace after six long slow months of little progress.
Bobbi Kristina Brown’s body has been turned over to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, which is required in all criminal cases. But within a day or two, her body will be released, likely faster since this is a high-priority case and the family and District Attorney’s office want answers and an arrest in the case. But, for now, all eyes will be on the funeral arrangements for Bobbi Kristina.
With the Browns living primarily in Atlanta and the Houstons in New Jersey, there was a turf war brewing over where Bobbi Kristina Brown’s arrangements and burial would take place. It seems a compromise has been worked out and Bobbi Kristina Brown will have a funeral service in Atlanta, likely with close family friend Tyler Perry coordinating.
After the service, Bobbi Kristina Brown’s body will be flown to New Jersey where there will be another service and then she will be laid to rest with her mother. Interestingly, there are no graves available on either side of Houston, so it’s likely they will inter Bobbi Kristina with her mother which will be fitting since they shared a great love for one another, were best friends in life, shared tragically similar deaths and now can find peace together.
Some questions remain around the funeral arrangements such as whether it will be broadcast on television as Whitney Houston’s was. A representative for the family has said that they do not want her funeral on TV as that would make even more of a spectacle of what has already become a media circus surrounding Bobbi Kristina Brown’s hospitalization and death.
The Houstons released the following statement after Bobbi Kristina passed away on Sunday:
“Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away Sunday, July, 26 2015, surrounded by her family. She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”
The final funeral arrangement are the result of months of battle between the Brown and Houston families. The Houstons have control of Whitney Houston’s trust that was being administered for Bobbi Kristina Brown’s benefit but Bobby Brown was co-conservator along with Pat Houston for Bobbi Kristina’s medical decisions.
Bobby Brown would have likely insisted on having a significant say in his daughter’s funeral since he was treated poorly at Whitney Houston’s. Houston family security blocked Bobby Brown from sitting with his daughter at her mother’s funeral and, as a result, Bobby made a scene and left the funeral. This time around, Brown has left nothing to chance and the dual funerals is likely the result of this inter-family war.
Likely the Browns will have control over the Atlanta funeral of Bobbi Kristina Brown and the Houstons over the New Jersey funeral and burial. The question remains, will Nick Gordon, her alleged attacker, show up to either ceremony? And if so, what will be the fallout? With a likely arrest pending once Bobbi Kristina Brown’s cause of death is officially determined, will Gordon dare show his face?
