Bobbi Kristina Brown may be at peace and buried, but the questions surrounding her death are not at rest. In addition to the civil suit against Bobbi Kristina’s fake husband Nick Gordon, there are possible criminal charges still pending. Nick Gordon had complained that he had been repeatedly turned away from visiting Bobbi Kristina Brown at Emory University Hospital and Peachtree Christian Hospice. But, in fact, Bobbi Kristina’s father Bobby Brown said he would allow visitation, prior to her death, if Nick Gordon met certain circumstances, including speaking to police.
Nick Gordon previously refused to speak to Atlanta area law enforcement, but now that he has a legal team in place, he has spoken to law enforcement in what has been called “a shocking statement.” Nick Gordon has apparently copped to abuse – but only abuse of drugs and alcohol – not the domestic abuse he was accused of in the civil lawsuit filed by Bobbi Kristina Brown’s court appointed conservator. Nick told investigators in no uncertain terms “I didn’t kill her.” But he also continues to refuse to take a polygraph test to back up his assertions, so it’s clear that Nick Gordon is still hiding the truth.
Bobbi Kristina Brown’s autopsy reported no clear cause of death and no signs of injury but that means nothing at this point. She languished in a hospital bed for more than six months so any injuries she came in with would have been long healed. And the cause of death was essentially starvation since the Houston family took away life-supporting nutrition and fluids to hasten Bobbi Kristina Brown’s death. The initial coroner’s report would simply reflect the condition in which her body was delivered to the Medical Examiner’s office – it won’t stop criminal charges from being filed against Nick Gordon.
Nick’s legal team is reported to already be in the defense-planning stages and they will show a pattern of behavior in Bobbi Kristina Brown that they will say led to her death. Rumor has it that any defense would show that Bobbi Kristina Brown was exposed to drugs from an early age because her parents Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston engaged in substance abuse in her presence from early childhood through adulthood. What’s more, Nick Gordon alleges that Bobbi Kristina Brown was binge drinking with her mother Whitney Houston the night Whitney was found dead in a bathtub. The legal team will draw parallels between the life and death of Whitney Houston and Bobbi Kristina Brown.
This will clearly blame Bobbi Kristina’s death on Whitney by implying that she patterned her life and drug abuse on her mother and met the same inevitable fate that Bobbi Kristina should have know was a likely consequence of her choice to drink and use drugs. As tacky as it is, that’s a valid defense and not without merit. However, Nick Gordon will likely not be able to avoid all criminal charges in Bobbi Kristina’s death. Here’s why. According to Bobbi Kristina’s friends, supported by text messages and social media activity, Nick Gordon ruled her life with an iron fist.
Nick Gordon kept control of her money, social life and all activity. That means that Nick facilitated her drug use by either procuring drugs for her or by giving her the cash to buy drugs. And from there, prosecutors will paint a picture of a greedy Gordon who kept Bobbi Kristina high so he could control her and her fortune. But don’t look for law enforcement to file murder charges – the most he’s likely to be slapped with is involuntary manslaughter. Nick Gordon may have bought the drugs, but it will be hard to prove that he forced her to use. Look for Nick Gordon to escape jail time altogether or serve, at most, a couple of months.
