We are just about halfway through this season 14 of FOX’s hit series, American Idol, and it’s about that time where fans are starting to pick out who they believe should win. Up until last week, Daniel Seavey was America’s favorite. The 15-year-old auditioned in San Francisco and was heavily backed by the young girl and teen population. We all know that is a force to be reckoned with. Being one of the youngest contestants ever on the show, he was able to identify with other teens, which put him in front of the other contestants week after week. Surprisingly, Daniel was recently sent home, leaving the title of front-runner to, none other than, Clark Beckham.
According to people.com, Clark Beckham, 22, has already released an EP, and taught himself piano at the age of 12, as well as guitar at the age of 15. Clark’s voice is full of soul and he sings as if he has been singing for decades. His voice rivals some of the Idol greats, and there is not a doubt in my mind that Clark Beckham will be the winner of American Idol this season.
His experience is evident in his performance of “It’s a Man’s, Man’s, Man’s, World,” embedded above. Clark’s vocal ability is much greater in comparison to the other contestants this year. He has been praised for his intricate runs, vocal agility, range, and soulful rasp; a quality that many singers long to posses.
Beckham’s vocal tone, and ability to sing old school R&B music so effortlessly, has brought him to be compared to season 11 front-runner, Joshua Ledet. The two vocal powerhouses also chose to sing many of the same songs, drawing even more comparisons between the two. While Joshua Ledet did not win American Idol, many fans were outraged and believed he should have been the winner. We can only hope that Clark Beckham will not suffer the same fate as his vocal twin.
Who is your favorite contestant this year? Do you agree that Clark Beckham should be crowned the next American Idol, or are you rooting for another contestant? If you want to see Clark Beckham win American Idol this season 14, be sure to tune-in to FOX American Idol 2015 every Wednesday and vote for Clark.
