Tonight on Lifetime Abby Lee Miller’s Dance Moms continues with an all new Tuesday April 7, season 5 episode 14 called, “Hollywood, Round Two” and we have your weekly recap below. On tonight’s episode, the ALDC is back in LA and it’s time for the team to redeem itself by focusing on what made these girls stars in the first place: winning competitions! Holly and Jill don’t see eye to eye when Abby decides to manage Kendall’s new singing career.
On the last episode, it was the last week before the ALDC tried to make another go of it in Los Angeles and Maddie was away again, this time dancing on Saturday Night Live. With her sister gone, Mackenzie had the chance to remind everyone she was more than just Maddie’s little sister. Up against Cathy’s new premium Candy Apples team, Abby decided to push the envelope with a sassy and funky routine as Cathy was still reeling from their loss the week before. The last time everyone was in LA, it was a disaster. Or to be more specific it was an overall disaster because according to Abby it was done on such an epic scale! So on tonight’s all new episode of “Dance Moms”, Abby wants her dancers to redeem themselves.
However they’re less focus on the dancing than they are with their careers in Hollywood. It seems that everyone wants their daughter to be a pop star and lately Kendall’s mother Jill has been wondering when exactly Abby was going to help them with that. Particularly as Abby had already made some promises.
Abby said she would help Kendall get her career off the ground but now that they are out in LA all Abby has been saying is that she’s busy. And when it’s not that then it’s a whole load of crap about how a contract Jill technically doesn’t understand. So unbeknownst to Jill, Abby could be doing anything she likes. And seeing as an actual conversation keeps being pushed aside, Jill is confused about what she can and cannot demand for her daughter.
Meanwhile Holly and Nia are actually getting somewhere with Nia’s singing career. And they did this by going to someone else to arrange it all.
Thus it’s Nia that’s doing a video and the only thing Kendall has to look forward to is her upcoming solo. And that’s something she shares with Nia. Both of them were assigned solos this week in order to recover from the last time when they both failed to place.
So their solos are more than just a dance. It’s also a way to prove to Abby that they are worth investing in.
Later Abby took all her girls to see Dallas Lovato. Dallas is Demi’s older sister and in recent years she’s become known for creating the triple threat in talent. So Abby wanted Dallas to look over her girls. And surprisingly Maddie didn’t stand out for her.
Dallas even asked Maddie if she was tired because she felt like Maddie didn’t show up with any kind of energy. But do you know who did stand out? Nia. Quiet and unassuming up to this point, Nia has somehow learned to shine despite Abby.
But will that little spark be enough to see her through competition?
The competition the girls were going to be dancing in was the New York Dance Experience. And that’s when the judges give live critique. So it’s kind of one of toughest competition out there and definitely hard on the dancers. However Abby specifically chose Nia and Kendall to dance this competition as part of a test.
For its one thing for their moms to believe they can be pop stars but proving it to Hollywood is going to be tougher.
And when competition day did dawn, Nia who had made a nice showing unfortunately did not impress judges as much as Kendall. Dancing once again proved not to be her biggest forte. So when the moms were backstage Jill finally decided to grow a backbone. Though she used in dealing with Holly rather than with Abby.
It seems that earlier Holly had been essentially claiming her daughter got the better deal by using a third party. Yet when Jill questioned her about it – it was revealed that Nia does not have a contract with the director that’s supposedly shooting her music video. And so Jill found that funny when heard.
It was Holly after all that had been coming down her throat about Kendall’s contract yet the one thing Holly was using to say look at how far Nia had gotten without Abby – actually lacked a contract. So Jill had a laugh at the other woman’s expense.
She still didn’t have a contract for Kendall but Kendall placed first in her division and during the award ceremony it was Kendall’s song that was playing on the loud speaker. Hence, for the time being, Jill is content with whatever Abby is willing to give her and her daughter. From her point of view it’s more than what Holly and Nia are currently getting.
