Dancing With the Stars 2015 Recap 4/28/15: Season 20 “10th Anniversary Special”

Tonight on ABC Dancing With The Stars 2015 airs with an all new Tuesday April 28, season 20 special episode called, “10th Anniversary Special” and we have your weekly recap below. On tonight’s episode a celebration of the show and its 20 seasons of dance competition features new performances and fan-favorite moments from the past. Included: Former contestants and returning pros take the floor. Also: an opening number with more than 45 stars.

On the last episode, next week on “Dancing with the Stars” the seven remaining couples were perform an iconic number from a different time period on “Era’s Night.” Dance styles include Modern Charleston, Contemporary, Argentine Tango and a futuristic Jazz number. The couple with the highest overall score of the night was granted immunity from elimination. The remaining couples then competed in a dance-off to earn extra judges’ points in an effort to increase their overall score. At the end of the night, one couple was sent home. On tonight’s episode as per the ABC synopsis, “The pop culture phenomenon that has brought ballroom dancing and beyond to living rooms across America for the past decade celebrates with a star-studded spectacular, on “Dancing with the Stars: 10th Anniversary Special. The extraordinary episode will be filled with show-stopping performances featuring past and present “Dancing with the Stars” cast members and pro dancers plus a look back at fan-favorite moments from the past 20 seasons. Dancing history will be made with the show’s largest opening number ever, featuring over 45 stars including the judges, hosts, and Season 20 pro dancers performing alongside 15 celebrity alums and seven returning pros.”

Tonight’s special 10th Anniversary Dancing With The Stars episode kicks off with an exciting performance with over 50 familiar faces including some of our favorite pro dancers, previous season’s winners like Alfonso Robiero, DWTS judges Carrie Ann Inabra, Len Goodman, and Bruno Tonioli, and even some of the 2015 Superbowl Champs. Host Erin Andrews watches the number from up in the sky box with Patti LaBelle and Lil Kim – they’re be performing a song together later during the special.

After the incredible opening number it is time to take a walk down memory lane and take a look back at all of the Mirror Ball Trophy winners to grace the stage since Dancing With The Stars began:

Now it is time or another dance number, General Hospital star Kelly Monaco (season 1) takes the stage with pro dancer Val Chmerkovskiy. They wow the crowd by stripping down in a bikini and speedo. After wards Sasha Farber , Kristi Yamaguchi, Amy Purdy, Maria Menounos, Amber Riley, and Chelsea Kane take the dance floor to dance along to the popular song “Uptown Funk.” Katherine Jenkins even dances along on the stage and makes DWTS history because she is 4 months pregnant.

Reigning champion Alfonso Ribeiro and his former pro dancing partner Witney Carson are up next, they reenact their Dancing With The Stars success with a dance number to a Chris Brown song. Afterwards they share a hilarious clip from Alfonso and Witney’s rehearsal when Witney accidently kicked Alfonso in the groin – and while he keeled over in pain she rubbed his back and offered to go get him a snack. Up next are DWTS champions Maks Chmerkovskiy and Meryl Davis, they get the crowd pumped up with a dance number to the song “Heroes.” After their performance the DWTS host shares a hilarious clip from Maks’ original Dancing with The Stars audition tape – which was filmed back in 2005.

Season 15 DWTS All-Star champion Melissa Rycroft is up next with pro dancer Tony Dovolini, after they are done working the dance floor they reveal that Melissa Rycroft will be hosting the next Dancing With The Stars tour which will be kicking off this summer in Atlantic City.

Len Goodman shares his thoughts now on the most iconic dance thus far on Dancing With The Stars – he says without a doubt it is Season 5 couple’s Helio and Julianne. As far as Carrie Ann Inabra is concerned the best dance was Amy Purdy and Derek Hough. Julianne thinks the best dance goes to Donald Driver and Peta. As far as Bruno is confirmed the best dance of the show so far had to be Mel B. and Maks’s tango.

Up next is a special performance from NFL Champs Kurt Warner, Jacoby Jones, Michael Irvin, Donald Driver, Hines Ward, Jerry Rice, and Emmitt Smith. They take the dance floor in gold jackets with their NFL numbers printed on the back and wow the crowd with their moves.

Tonight’s special Dancing With The Stars 10th Anniversary episode closes with the legendary Patti LaBelle performing her iconic hit song “Lady Marmalade” along with rapper Lil Kim, and Dancing With The Stars champ Amber Riley.
