A few months ago nobody had ever heard of Alek Skarlatos, now he is an American hero and a frontrunner on Season 21 of Dancing With The Stars. The 23 year old Army National Guard soldier was travelling through Paris over the summer with a group of friends – when a gunman hopped on the train that they were travelling on. Skarlatos and his pals made national news when they were able to thwart the gunman, and save countless lives.
After Skarlatos’ heroic venture in Paris, he received tons of press and even was honored by President Obama. Then, he got a call from ABC and was invited to compete on Season 21 of Dancing With The Stars. Just a few days after meeting the President, he was whisked away to DWTS rehearsal – where he met his partner Lindsay Arnold. Alek and Lindsay wowed the judges during the season premiere, and have been receiving high scores ever since.
Alek Skarlatos sat down with In Touch Magazine to discuss the whirlwind of fame and notoriety he has received over the course of the last few months – and of course what he thinks about competing on Dancing With The Stars. When asked if he was nervous about competing on DWTS Alek explained, “Yes! I was so nervous when we first started. My partner Lindsay has taught me a lot. I still worry about dropping her, but I try to concentrate and just take one step at a time.”
Alek also dished on his dating life – and revealed that he is actually single! How no girl has managed to scoop him up yet is beyond us. He explained to In Touch Magazine that he plans to remain single until DWTS is over, because right now he is too busy dancing to focus on a relationship.
And, what does the future hold for Skarlatos? The hero wants to get in to law enforcement, “when this all dies down.”
