The Dolls are having a promotional event to launch their lookbook.

Malika has been dating a guy for four months. She says in confessional they’ve been friends for over a year, they have great chemistry and she has gotten very fond of him. She says the more they spend time together, the stronger their feelings get, but it’s difficult because she lives in LA, he lives in New York, and even though he is separated, he is still married.

At the event, he tells her he can come back in two weeks.

Caroline Burt chats with Melody while working on her upcoming mini fashion collection.
She brings up the fact that her mother is coming to town. She says in confessional that her parents are both in politics, and she comes from a very conservative political background. She says though she may be successful with her career in LA, she and her mom are polar opposites.

She tells Melody that she was sent to a wilderness program for troubled kids when she was 15, and that these boot camps are unregulated.

She says in confessional that the experience made her look at the world in a very negative light.

Malika talks to Melody and Khadijah about the guy she has been saying, who has canceled their plans at the last minute.

Khadijah says in confessional that Malika has a pattern of dating unavailable men. She says she thinks this relationship is going to be harder than Malika expected.

Caroline’s friend, Ronnie from the shitty band Falling In Reverse, meets with her at her house. She tells him about her conservative mother’s impending visit. He asks her if she gets nervous when her mom visits, and she says yes.

Caroline says in confessional that she and her mother were close, but when she was a teenager, her mom saw a side of her she never saw before. She says her mother thought because she changed on the outside, something must have changed on the inside. She says she wants to patch things up for her mother, but her mother never apologized.

Caroline’s mother shows up at DASH unexpectedly.

Caroline says in confessional that if she knew her mom was going to show up, she would have worn less eye makeup.

When she tells her mom she tried her best on her makeup, she says she didn’t try hard enough.
Caroline says in confessional that there is a lot of growth that needs to go on between the two of them, but she doesn’t know if it will ever happen.

Melody invites Caroline’s mom to watch Caroline at her DJing gig.

Khadijah asks Malika about the guy she has been seeing, and she says she wouldn’t know as she hasn’t spoken to him in three days.

Khadijah tells her to pick up the phone and call him. When she does, it goes to voicemail and his mailbox hasn’t been set up yet.

Khadijah tells her she feels sorry for her because it’s yet another guy who is a disappointment, but she says she shouldn’t keep torturing herself if this guy isn’t what she needs in a relationship.

Caroline’s mom comes to her event, but walks out before her daughter has even started DJing, saying that her friend Ronnie “looks disgusting.”

Caroline says in confessional that she doesn’t understand why her mother can’t look beyond the exterior and into her world, saying it makes her sad and mad.

Khadijah calls Khloe, saying she got a message from Malika at 3 a.m. Khloe says she gets how she feels how she does, because he is acting like a “butthead.” She says that she heard the two of them fighting, and that Malika is hungover.

Khadijah goes into Malika’s room and asks her if she is okay. Crying, Malika says she was drinking last night and got into an argument with him. She says she doesn’t think they should be dating, but doesn’t want to lose her friendship with him. She tells Khadijah to let her sleep, but Khadijah says they have to work. Malika starts crying harder, telling her to just let her have her day and she will be fine.

Khadijah, gets up, saying she will let her be by herself.

Kim tells Stephanie that Khloe says she has been doing a good job, so they would like to give her more responsibility. Now she will be able to ring people up instead of just being the “clicker girl” (clicking a remote every time a customer comes in).

Malika receives a text message from her man saying he knew she was going to blow up sooner or later and that he also has to mature, but there was no reason to act the way she did. Malika tells her friends that he had an opportunity to tell her how he felt to her face last night.

Khadijah tells her to find closure for her so she can seal the deal and be done with this.

Caroline’s mom is calling and texting her, still trashing her friend Ronnie because of his rocker appearance.

She calls her, telling her that the appearance of a guy who is tatted from head to toe is going to define her. Caroline says she has tattoos and looks a certain way, asking her mother if she would tell someone to stay away from her. Her mother responds that there are plenty of people who know to stay away from her.

She goes on to call her self-absorbed. She says she didn’t want to send her out into the wilderness, but she wanted her to adapt to normal high school life. She tells her that she has lost her mind. Caroline begins to respond before her mother hangs up.

Caroline cries in confessional, saying that she and her mom were always close until she changed her look. She says she didn’t understand why her mom turned into this mean person, and that she doesn’t think her mother wants her around as much as she used to.

Khloe asks Malika what is going on with her.

Malika says drinking made her honest about her relationship with the guy, saying she realized she wants to remain friends with him.

Khloe says that once you start to sleep with someone, you can be cordial afterward but they won’t be your friend.

Khadijah tells Malika that she thinks she has a pattern of getting into the same situation over and over again. She and Khloe suggest that Malika go to a therapist.

Khloe says when she went to couples counseling with Lamar, she surprisingly couldn’t stop talking.

Malika sees a therapist. She says that every single man she dates is either far, hard to get to or halfway or fully in another romantic situation. She says that she doesn’t think anyone in her life stays, assuming everyone will eventually leave.

She says she thinks that tendency came from the first person in her life who left her, her father. She says she doesn’t have a relationship with him, but her other siblings do, because she made a decision not to have him in his life because he’s hurt her more than anyone ever could but has never been responsible for that.

She says in confessional that her father was in and out of jail, and she and Khadijah would wait in the window for their father to come home every day, but he never would, and that she thought that was normal until she found out it wasn’t.

Caroline meets with her mother, who criticizes her look. caroline says she wants to be involved in pop culture, and when her mother disapprovingly says she definitely does, she thanks her. She tells her mom she has held a lot of resentment toward her. She says she knows she didn’t know everything she went though in the boot camp, including being made to eat her own vomit, but she has resentment because her mother never apologized that she was put through that.

Her mother responds by telling her “we are not going to fix this.” She says that what they can do together is move forward. She tells Caroline she wants her to finish her education.

Caroline tells her she knows what she is doing, and her mother says she wishes she had taken a different path but she accepts the one she has taken and isn’t going to fight it anymore. She says she is so over fighting, and that Caroline isn’t 15 anymore, this is the path she has chosen and she will accept it. She suggests the two of them read To Set a Watchman together, like they did with To Kill a Mockingbird. Caroline agrees, and the two of them hug.

Nazy takes Stephanie out for her first driving lesson.

Khadijah asks Malika how her therapy went and if it is an appropriate time to ask if she’s really done with this guy. Malika says she has decided she needs to leave the unavailable alone.

Caroline has set up an art show for a wildlife nonprofit, which her mom has attended as well as her friend Ronnie. Caroline says in confessional that she is nervous about introducing Ronnie to her mother because she was rude the last time. She brings him up to introduce them, and her mother storms off yet again. Caroline follows her, telling her she needs to introduce her to someone. She and Ronnie plead with her to talk to him as she pulls herself away again.

Ronnie tells her that he understands her perspective and jokes that he got all his tattoos for attention. He also tells her that he has never even hooked up with Caroline and that she is a great person. Her mother tells him that she appreciates that.
