“Days of Our Lives” spoilers and rumors tease that the cast of the NBC soap is currently shaking in their boots and walking around the set on egg-shells. Soap Opera Digest teases that all four remaining daytime soaps will have to cut down their cast in upcoming months, so that they can heed new wage regulations put in effect by the Television Actor’s Union.
Translation? NBC is going to have to start paying their actors more, so they will be cutting some characters from the soap all together, to free up some change to pay the others. The obvious question on everyone’s mind is which “Days of Our Lives” actors will be making the cut, and which ones will be sent packing? Well, we put together a list of characters that we think the DOOL writers may be considering sending out, based on rumors and lack of screen time and storylines.
Marlena Evans: Deidre Hall’s character is an iconic one on the NBC soap, and “Days of Our Lives” writers will never kill her off. But, other than posing as a therapist and helping along other character’s storylines, Marlena has really had no real purpose in Salem since John Black awoke from his coma. The DOOL writers may not kill her off, but we could see them sending her on a lengthy half a year long business trip with John Black, or vacation to help her get over John Black.
John Black: Speaking of John Black, Drake Hogestyn’s character is already coming and going every other week through Salem’s revolving door. And, other than stopping by to tell Marlena he loves her every once in a while, Salem can carry on just fine without Drake’s character. We could totally see Marlena and John riding off in the sunset together for a lengthy period of time.
Kate Roberts: At one point, Kate was a key player in Salem, but it seems like these days her only job is to keep creepy Clyde warm at night. And rumor has it that Stefano DiMera is headed back to Salem to reclaim his family’s business. So it would be an opportune time for Kate Roberts to get the hell out of dodge.
Clyde Weston: When Jordan’s creepy parent figure, Clyde, arrived in Salem, he rubbed just about everyone the wrong way, including DOOL fans at home. We know that Jordan is exiting the NBC soap in March, and here’s to hoping that she kills slimy Clyde before she skips town – and the rumors floating around social media come true. While they are at it, Jordan’s little brother, Ben, might as well run away with her since he is getting some pretty horrible storylines to work with.
