A patient getting surgery witnesses the operating team passing out simultaneously, leaving him in the bed with his brain exposed.

Tommy comes to Lindy’s house saying he wants a favor. Meanwhile, her date Jake calls and cancels on her. Tommy says a friend of his is in trouble and he needs a little help off the books. His friend is a neurosurgeon at the hospital where the event occurred. Machines at the hospital have been shutting down and rebooting for no reason, which he believes to have been hacked. She asks if anyone has died, and he says no. He tells her that IT is claiming there is no problem as they just spent millions for a state-of-the-art network. Lindy checks out the network and says it must be someone on the inside.

Lindy goes into the hospital’s IT department, using a key card swiped by a doctor Tommy had a fling with. Lindy simulates a fever in order to have her information put into the system, which George edits so she can gain access to the intensive care unit. He writes in her file that she has neurosyphilis, so she pretends to pass out.

Outside, Tommy sees a suspicious van. He checks it out to find George inside, asking him where Lindy is. He tells him that if something happens to Lindy, it’s going to be on him, and George tells him where she is.

Lindy meets a sick girl named Erica.

The doctor tells Lindy that neurosyphilis occurs in people who have had issues untreated for ten to twenty years, which makes Lindy clearly too young to have it. When he leaves the room, Lindy slips out. She bumps into Erica, who can sense that she is carrying something heavy emotionally. She tells Lindy to be careful in the hospital, saying it’s a big machine and money is all they care about.

Lindy uses her tablet to track down the logs. While she is transferring them to George, someone approaches her from behind. It is a nurse, who takes her back for tests. She almost has to endure a test where they put a needle in her spine when Tommy bursts in at the last second. He pretends to be her fiance, and confronts her on not telling him she was going to the ICU. The doctor tells him to give her a hug to alleviate the pressure on her spine. Then the doctor who gave him and Lindy the key card bursts in, telling the doctor they’re friends of the family and she will take care of them.

She drags Tommy outside, telling him again that she is risking her job because she trusted him and asking him what is going on.

George calls Lindy and tells her the tablet belonged to a nurse named Lawrence Kennedy. Suddenly, loud beeps signify that the single machine keeping Erica alive is malfunctioning. The team struggles to save her life, but she dies. Lindy is watching. When she looks away, she sees Tommy standing in the corridor.

Tommy tells her that whoever is doing this just committed their first murder. Lindy says that all of these people are hooked up to machines, and they could all die if they don’t figure out what’s going on.
She calls George and asks him to check the nurse’s social media. She tells Tommy that the nurse has an alibi, and he asks who then would have his tablet.

Lindy goes and talks to Erica’s boyfriend. She asks how long they’ve been together, and he tells her Erica wouldn’t put a label on it because he would feel obligated to stick around.

He says Erica actually wanted to die, that she decided and accepted it.

Lindy catches a glimpse of his Nexico Solutions name tag. She calls George inquiring about the company, which he says is an anti-virus company.

The whole hospital has erupted into chaos, with alarms sounding, lights flashing on and off and people running around in panic.

George says something incredibly sophisticated is attacking the hospital’s network. The virus started to spread when Erica died.

Lindy tells Tommy she knows who could have engineered such a sophisticated attack: Mark.

Lindy and Tommy confront Erica’s boyfriend, who says that he had a part in creating it but it was not intended for this purpose and that they didn’t kill Erica. He says if he had more courage he would have helped her end her life.

Lindy deduces that Erica is the mastermind, and that she killed herself.

She says this needs to be stopped or people will die, but he says he can’t do it because the virus can only be stopped via a killswitch.

The team investigates the hospital surveillance tape and finds that Erica swallowed the killswitch.

George watches as Lindy and Tommy go into the morgue to attempt to retrieve the killswitch from Erica’s body. George gives them instructions via video, telling them how to cut open Erica’s corpse. Just before they make the first incision, the doctor storms in asking what they’re doing. Lindy and Tommy are told their help is needed and they rush to where Erica’s boyfriend is. He is struggling to figure out the authorization code, and since this is about revenge, Lindy asks what the name of the drug is that messed up Erica’s liver. That code doesn’t work.

Lindy receives an anonymous text asking if she wants their help. They provide her with the code and the system reboots.

Erica’s boyfriend tells Lindy that she never meant to hurt anyone with her virus, she just got upset. He asks her how she knew the password, and she says it was a hunch.

When Lindy gets back to her apartment, she finds a large gift. It’s a book of incredible restaurants around the world, signed by Jake.

THE END!
