Tonight on MTV Finding Carter returns with an all new Tuesday November 24, season 2 episode 20 called, “The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter,” and we have your weekly recap below. On tonight’s episode, Jared’s (Jackson Rathbone) past mistakes intrude on Carter’s party.

#FindingCarter starts with Carter waking at Lori’s house. Lori comes in and asks how she slept. She says she’s making banana pancakes and Carter says she usually does cereal now and just needs to get ready for work. Lori says she’s glad she’s there and she’s always there for her. Liz comes pounding on the door and demands to know why Carter is there and says get our things, you’re coming home with me.
Liz says Lori kidnapped her. Carter asks how she knew she was there and tells Liz to leave. Lori tries to talk her down then says maybe Carter should go home. Carter is annoyed at both of them and says they can both eat pancakes and she walks off. Grant tells Taylor that Carter rekidnapped herself and it’s like Katniss staying at Snow’s house. Taylor says they don’t get how Carter feels about Lori.
Grant says people don’t change and Taylor says Lori seems different now and Grant reminds her that Lori held her at gunpoint. He throws down his plate and walks out. Carter goes to work and Jared comes out of the kitchen. He asks if she’s thought about what they talked about. She says yeah and he asks if she’s still upset. She asks if he’s still married. Stevie walks away from the awkwardness.
Jared says he was wrong not to tell her. She asks if he still has feelings for his wife and then asks why he didn’t tell her. He says the whole thing is a mess and says she won’t let him see his daughter. He says she keeps switching lawyers and missing court dates. Carter says it sounds awful and he says he hasn’t had feelings for her for a long time. Stevie tells Carter we all have a past and she says she knows.
She asks Stevie about his ex and she says her name was Sarah and she used to work there and says she works at a little boutique downtown. She says they were a terrible couple. Gammy shows up to work on the basement and Liz rants about the décor process. Liz doesn’t want to look at fabrics and then says she needs her help, not criticism. Liz says can someone just support her and she stomps out.
Gammy is annoyed too. Bird comes to the bar and Carter complains about Jared. Bird reminds them about the party tonight and Carter says his wife used to work here. Carter tells her what she knows and they go to scope out Sarah. She introduces herself and Bird asks her about a blouse. Carter notices she’s wearing a wedding ring.
She shows them some clothes and Carter compliments the ring and asks how long she was married. She says she was married to a complete loser and the worst is she has a kid with him now. She says her therapist told her you don’t really know someone for three to six months. She asks about her daughter and Sarah says it’s insane to her that her ex doesn’t want to see her.
Bird comes out and says she’s still thinking and they leave. Carter and Bird talk about how Sarah seemed so nice and not anything like what Jared said. Carter says she doesn’t know who to believe and Bird suggests checking the court documents for info. Bird says she really liked those shirts. Liz comes down with wine and Gammy is happy to day drink with her. Liz apologizes for taking out her bad morning on her.
She says she and David are fine. She tells her Carter slept over at Lori’s then tells her maybe she should back off of Carter for a bit. She says sometimes you have to let people make their own mistakes. Gammy says Carter is a survivor and will do okay. Taylor rants to Max about Grant. He gets a text and she asks if it’s about his dad but he says he went over his date. He says he’ll hear any day now.
Taylor asks why everything has to be stressful. She asks him to ask Grant to go with them to his place to eat junk food and watch movies. Grant is eavesdropping and says he’ll go. Taylor gets a text and says she’ll meet them there. She goes and meets Carter and Bird. Carter says she’s good then says actually terrible. She says Grant went nuts when he heard she was at Lori’s. Taylor asks what’s up.
Then Taylor goes to ask Liz and says she’s the one who told Carter about the wife and kid and asks doesn’t she want to know the details. Taylor says they’re both worried about Carter and Liz says mistrusting Jared is a sign and Taylor says maybe Carter will depending on what she finds. Liz says Gammy told her to let Carter make her own mistakes and says no, she won’t look at the files.
Carter tells Bird that her mom said no on the legal files. Seth tells Bird he’s nervous about a deejay scout coming tonight and he sets up parties in New York. Seth and Bird flirt and Carter goes to make calls. She calls Crash who is glad to hear from her. She says she’s glad he answered and he asks how she’s doing. She says it’s hard to do on her own sometimes. He says fear can’t stop you from living.
She ends the call when Jared comes looking for her. Grant, Max and Taylor are playing games and Grant wants a burger. Max and Taylor got get it for him while Grant hangs out at his place playing video games. The party is on at the laundromat that Carter found. She tells Jared it’s getting crowded but he says it’s good and tells her to relax.
He asks if they can talk about this thing with his ex. He says if it wasn’t for his kid, he’d be happy to never see her again. Grant gets hungry and pokes around in Max’s kitchen. He finds a box of gluten free crisps then goes to the fridge and finds almost nothing. He keeps poking around and finds some chocolate chip cookies on a top shelf and digs into them.
A fight breaks out at the party. Jared has a guy hauled out and Carter watches with interest. On the way back. Max gets a text and she asks if it was about his dad. He tells her she’s stressing him out. He says he’ll tell her when it comes and she says she’ll stop asking. Taylor says they won’t let him out and he says he knows.
Jared tells Carter that people get crazy at parties and says he had it under control. She says they need real security and more safeguards. He says security is expensive and then Jared says his ex is there. Carter and Sarah swap looks while Jared turns and glares at Sarah.
Sarah comes up and says great party and tells Jared he may have found his calling. She says she met his little GF when she came to her store. She says his GFs keep getting younger and younger and Jared asks why she’s there. She says drink and dance then says it’s hard being a single mom. She tells Carter good luck and walks out. Jared says he guesses Carter needed to see for herself that he’s crazy.
Max and Taylor come back and find Grant playing with a plant. He’s so obviously stoned. Max asks if he ate his cookies then tells Taylor they’re enhanced cookies. Grant asks what’s wrong and they tell him nothing is wrong. He says it’s getting hot and then Taylor eats one and sys they’re fine. Max eats one too and says they’re fine. Grant comes to sit with them and hugs them. He says that was weird.
He says he doesn’t know what got into him but Max says he does. A woman checks out Seth and Bird says he’s taken. The woman says she’s not into men at all but likes deejays. Bird asks if she’s Elliott. She tells Bird to back off now and says she’ll talk to Seth after his set. Bird backs off. Grant tells Taylor that everyone’s thoughts are different even Carter. He says that’s insane. He laughs.
Then he says remember when they found out he had a brother. Taylor says they literally have a brother from another mother. There’s a knock and Grant says let’s pretend we’re not here but Max goes to get the door. It’s Gammy and Buddy. Turns out Grant called Gammy and asked for brownies. Buddy says he’s high and Taylor says they can explain.
Liz calls David and gets voice mail. She says she’s making a mess of things then asks if he can come home for a stop. She says she’d like to see him. Back at the party, Carter approaches Jared and says she shouldn’t have gone to her store but says he left out a bunch of stuff and she wanted to know more. She asks why the story Sarah told is so different from what he says.
He says Sarah was putting a show on for her. There are sirens outside and Carter turns in shock. Carter says it’s a private party and the cop says they got a noise complaint. Jared thinks Sarah called this in. Carter says her mother is a Fairfax cop and is all about probably cause and warrants when they’re needed. The male cop says maybe keep the noise down and they leave.
Gammy tells Max and Taylor they have to be careful with edibles. Gammy says in their day pot was just pot and Buddy says their generation mucked it up with pot pizza, cookies and coffee. She says she smoked at Taylor’s age but says Grant is too young. He says he thought they were regular cookies and says don’t tell mom.
Gammy says he can sleep it off at their house then pops Buddy’s hand when he reaches for an edible. Elliot tells Seth that she liked him and hands him a card. She says email me, don’t call. She and Seth share a kiss. Carter finds Jared at the bar later and she says it was a close call with the cops. He says they were all talk then says he told her Sarah was crazy. Carter says she’s sorry.
She says she didn’t think Sarah would know who he is. He says insane people are also pretty smart and she should know. He says they have bigger issues than just his ex. He goes to walk out. Jared says he can’t have all this fighting and drama and says he can’t be in a relationship without trust. Carter asks if he’s going to walk away when this gets a bit hard and says that’s what Sarah said he did.
He scoffs and walks off. Liz gets a call from Lopez and says he went to one of the underground parties and talked to Carter. He says she wasn’t just there but was running the damned thing. Gammy brings Grant home and he thanks her for letting him stay over. She says she knows life is hard right now but says he has to face it sober. He says he misses Carter and Gammy says call her and bug her.
She says Carter won’t come home on her own and someone needs to do something. Jared shows up at Lori’s looking for Carter. He shows her court documents showing that he tried to get custody of his daughter and showing he always pays his child support on time. He says he wants her trust him and she says she will. He says he doesn’t sleep well without her. They kiss.
Bird tells Seth she’s so proud of him and he talks about them moving to New York for the summer. He says he loves her and she says her too. He drives off the road then they pull over. Carter packs to leave and Lori asks where she’s going. She says she’s going to Jared’s. Lori says she knows she knows what she’s doing but says be careful and says she’s welcome any time.
Gammy comes in with Grant and asks how Liz is doing. She says she thinks Carter may be in trouble and Gammy says Grant is going to call Carter and guilt her into coming home. Taylor and Max lie in bed stuffed from eating all the brownies. His phone chimes and he says his dad is getting out. Carter shows up to move in with Jared and he says he cleaned out a door and is going to clear out a closet tomorrow.
