“General Hospital” spoilers indicate that Nina Clay (Michelle Stafford) may really be going off the rails soon and that’s got to be exciting for all the hard-core GH fans out there. After all, the best Nina is a crazy Nina, and there are events going on right now that may see her committed to Shadybrook for real.
First, Nina’s rat fink hubby Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) is deliberately trying to drive her over the brink into madness acting in cahoots with her mom Madeline Reeves (Donna Mills). The crying baby, the blanket, the disappearing crib – Ric almost had her buying that she was crazy until Franco (Roger Howarth) told her the truth about Silas Clay (Michael Easton) being the real kidnapper.
This is the same ex-husband who had already betrayed her terribly by fooling around with and impregnating Ava Jerome (Maura West) back in the day. And now Nina finds out that Silas kidnapped baby Avery knowing that Nina would be the likely suspect. That, on top of the gaslighting that Ric was enacting, has pushed Nina back to the edge of madness.
Nina will be under double police scrutiny once they find out she was at Silas Clay’s the night of his murder and we know she can’t handle that kind of pressure. Plus, there’s the whole shock of Silas’ brutal murder that has her stunned. Even though Nina didn’t do it – despite Franco finding her with a bloody knife – the loss of Silas is mentally devastating to Nina.
Pile on top of that when she finds out that her true love Franco is a prime suspect in the murder and you can see that Nina’s already fragile mental state can rapidly crumble. Ironically, finding out that she didn’t kidnap the baby will not set Nina on a course of stability, but could send her spinning out of control and see her go well and truly nuts.
In addition to that being a terrible fate for Nina, it would unjustly reward Ric and Maddy because they would end up with Nina’s millions. Also consider what else Nina has to deal with – she will soon find out that her wicked husband and evil mother are sleeping together and plotting against her plus she’s scared Franco will be convicted and sent away for good over Silas’ murder.
If all these horrible events coinciding actually push Nina over the edge into lunacy, Nina might legitimately end up needing a mental time-out at Shadybrook to pull herself back together. Is Franco’s love enough to pull Nina through? Will Franco team up with Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) to prove Nina’s innocence in all these events and pull her back from the brink?
