“General Hospital” spoilers and casting news are now confirming that ABC soap alum Vanessa Marcil is not returning as Brenda Barrett for the annual Nurse’s Ball in May 2015. “General Hospital” rumors are always hinting that Marcil may be headed back to the soap opera, and she doesn’t exactly shoot them down – nor does she confirm them. This has been going on for months now. Now, Vanessa Marcil is setting the record straight (again) and saying that she is not returning to GH.
Marcil took to Twitter and tweeted a photo of herself standing in front of a dressing room mirror and teased that she had “exciting news” for her fans. Marcil’s former co-star Kimberly McCullough (Robin Scorpio-Drake) quickly commented on Marcil’s photo and informed fans that she was standing in front of a “General Hospital” dressing room mirror. Between all of the rumors floating around that Marcil was returning for the Nurse’s Ball, and the fact that she was posting photos on the set of GH, and had “exciting news,” it wasn’t a stretch for fans to assume that the star was returning to the ABC soap.
Marcil didn’t correct McCullough, and allowed the rumors to manifest on social media for a few days that she was returning to “General Hospital.” Finally, three days later on April 12, Brenda tweeted, “No. Brenda won’t be at the nurses ball. Just to clarify my news that I am excited to share is not a return to GH.” Marcil hasn’t actually appeared on “General Hospital” since 2012, but for a star who hasn’t been on the show in nearly three years – she certainly is in the headlines an awful lot. Sure, Marcil doesn’t start rumors that she is returning, but she does feed into them and drops hints of a return in her interviews.
