George Clooney is reportedly brainstorming a legion of “genius” ideas for pulling Amal Alamuddin into his Hollywood world. The latest notion, as reported by National Enquirer is that Georgie boy wants to land Amal a Judge Judy type show that would have her lending her legal expertise to plaintiffs on a reality type show. Another of the reported Clooney plans, per Radar Online, was to set Amal Alamuddin (or Clooney as she prefers to be known) up as Donald Trump’s replacement on Celebrity Apprentice.
Now maybe neither of these ideas is exactly the 100% truth, but there is something to the notion that George Clooney may be trying to migrate Amal out of her international lawyer work and into a career that will keep her close to home in LA so he can have her nearby while still working in a semi-serious career. And really, Judge Judy money is nothing to shrug at – the famed TV justice is worth close to $300 million, is the highest paid person on TV, and pulls in 2.3 million viewers an episode which is pretty remarkable for a low budget daytime program.
If Amal Alamuddin could rake in close to $50 million a year like Judge Judy, George Clooney would probably be pleased – and so would Amal. But let’s face it, she’s not going to cheapen her overblown and wildly exaggerated reputation by being a TV judge weighing the merits of cases about house cats and bickering neighbors. But perhaps George Clooney could land his skeletal wife a role as one of CNN’s legal talking heads or, even better, a giant Sirius radio paycheck with her own talk show about world issues, Hollywood chat, fashion, or (giggle) dieting tips.
What’s likelier true is that Amal Clooney is facing a career impasse and has some choices to make soon about work and the rest of her life. She clealry isn’t really the lauded top legal mind that George’s PR people have made her out to be. Instead, Amal was in her earlier years of a promising legal career – and this is when most associates have to work 60 and 70 hour week in an effort to make partner. But once Amal caught George’s eye, she was traveling with him to Italy, to movie premieres, etc. That meant her career stalled. And she will never be able to resume a schedule required to truly succeed in her field – not even close.
The best Amal Clooney can now hope for is to be a legal figurehead because of her famous husband’s name because she won’t garner an impressive legal track record or expertise built on years of hard work and experience. Amal is now just a name brand in a couture suit with a few years experience. To be fair, she’s head and shoulders over most in Hollywood where most barely graduated high school and almost none have a college degree. Even her handsome husband didn’t finish college, but you’d never know it to hear George Clooney prattle on about world matters like he’s a studied individual.
Maybe that’s why George would prefer Amal in Hollywood instead of practicing law in England – she’s got three (yes three) college degrees to his zero – and that has to make the smug actor feel like the dumb blonde in the relationship for a change. If George Clooney can put his lettered wife Amal onto a TV reality show it would level the playing field a bit. So maybe there’s something to those ridiculous rumors after all…
