Gisele Bundchen Retiring from Modeling, Why?

After close to 20 years of an immensely successful modeling career, Gisele Bundchen has announced that she is stepping away from the catwalk and retiring from modeling. The model, who is married to Tom Brady, will say goodbye to the runaway next week, at her last fashion show during Sao Paulo Fashion Week.

In an interview that Bundchen did with Brazilian newspaper, Folha de Sao Paulo, the 34-year-old super model says: “Automatically my body tells me if what I do is worth it, and it asked me to stop. I respect my body, it’s a privilege to be able to stop. This is a special year for me, where I celebrate 20 years of my career and feel this is the ideal time to do the last show. I want to be more with my family and focus on personal projects.

Gisele Bundchen doesn’t have much to worry about though. With an estimated net worth of $320 million, and Brady having an estimated net worth of $120 million, this power couple will do just fine after she retires. It is reported that the model earns $128,000 a day through her various endorsement deals with top of the line companies like H&M, Chanel, Pantene, and Louis Vuitton.

Also, while this is a retirement from the runway, the model does have plans to continue to work off the runway, doing new photo shoots and campaigns. In short, she just wants to spend more time with her family and two children, and you cannot blame her for that.

All eyes will be on Gisele for her final runway on the Colcci catwalk, of which she says, “I have a relationship of many years with Colcci. My first fashion show for the brand was in 2005, 10 years ago. So to make this last show with them, is a form of prestige for them too. For me it is very natural to make this last show here in Brazil, after all, this is my country and this is where it all started.”

Best of luck to Gisele in her future endeavors, however, we aren’t so sure that this will be an official retirement. Do you really think that she will be able to stay off the runway? Let us know in the comments below!
