Tonight on NBC their show Heroes Reborn airs with an all new Thursday October 8, season 1 episode 4 called, “The Needs of the Many” and we have your weekly recap below. On tonight’s episode, Noah (Jack Coleman) searches for someone from his past and breaks into Renautas for answers.
On the last episode, Tommy found comfort sharing his ability with Emily; Miko’s rescue mission hit obstacles in Japan; Noah seeks the truth; and Malina was guided by an unseen force. Also: The powerful woman behind a global conglomerate revealed her plans to protect the world from Evos; and Luke and Joanne continued on their deadly mission. Did you watch the last episode? On tonight’s episode as per the NBC’s synopsis, “Noah searches for someone from his past and breaks into Renautas for answers. Also: Miko continues her rescue mission; Tommy tries to save a life; Luke faces obstacles in his relationship with his wife; and Carlos makes progress in his heroic odyssey.”

#HeroesReborn starts with Anna and Tommy’s car wreck from the end of the last episode. Tommy calls to his mother but she just hands there in the car. Then she finally comes to as well. She says she wanted some more time with him. She says it’s too dangerous and he has to go. He touches her and sends her away using his powers then he collapses. At the hospital, a nurse finds Anna on the floor of the ER.
In St Louis, Joanne knocks on Alexander’s door and he opens it. She shoots him in the head and then laughs in triumph. Luke tells her that the man had a wife and kid and Joanne says he’s a monster. Luke says they are making horrible assumptions. They hear steps and she pulls her gun, but it’s just the family dog. The dog lies down by Alexander’s body and whimpers. Joanne pockets her gun. They leave.
In the Arctic Circle, we see a woman appear from nowhere – she’s praying on her prayer mat then shoulders her backpack and trudges off into the tundra. She sees a moth in the distance and heads for it. She looks around and then climbs over a hill. She says – my God – and checks her compass which is whirling like crazy. Malina is there behind her and asks if it’s time to go South. Malina says she’s ready.
She tells Malina she should be more scared since the fate of the world is in her hand. She thaws a field of frozen moths and they all fly away thanks to her powers. In Tokyo, Ren buys tickets for he and Miko’s trip to America. He shows her that he’s internet famous and the cab driver thinks he’s doing porn. Miko laughs. Ren explains he’s a gamer, not doing anything dirty. He says people watch him play games. He shoots a video saying he’s with real-life katana girl. He says he needs their help with the quest.
He tells them to dress up as Evernor characters and meet at the gates of Renautus tomorrow. Ren tells her not to doubt the power of social media. At Renautus, Quentin and Noah sit outside and Quentin calls them digital sheep. Noah reminds him he was one of those sheep at one point. Noah says they need to find a way into the research lab. Quentin is worried they’re also channeling Phoebe’s power somehow. Jose uses his powers to reach through an engine and work on his dad’s muscle car.
Carlos comes in limping and looking rough. He checks out the engine and is impressed with Jose’s work. Carlos hugs him then picks up a tool from the ground. Jose asks what’s up but Carlos is fixated. He looks at the car and says they need bulletproof glass and Kevlar. Quentin lurks outside when Taylor walks by. Noah creeps up and puts a gun to her side and tells her she’s going to help them break out Molly. They ask her about her mom’s research division and she recognizes him and calls him the OG bag and tagger.
Noah asks what kind of mother puts her kid in this line of work and says maybe she doesn’t care if her daughter catches a bullet. Quentin says he tried to ask her mom about his sister but he couldn’t get near her. He says he can get all his answers from her. Quentin says her mother is kidnapping people and Noah asks what she thinks her mother is up to kidnapping human beings and hurting them. He says her mother is lying to her to protect her from the truth. Noah says she should question her mother.
Taylor asks her mom Erica what happened to Francis. Her mom says she shouldn’t be sleeping with an Evo. She asks her mom why she’s a bigot. Erica says she has no idea what she is or is trying to do. Taylor asks why she’s rounding them up. Erica talks about how aluminum used to be rare and prized. She says once they figured out how to master it, it went from royal to commonplace. Taylor says to stop with the TED talk. Erica says she is creating a world of infinite supply to spare her from a terrible future.
Taylor asks again why she needs Evos. Her mother says – to save our species – then asks if Taylor trusts her. Tommy waits at the hospital. Brad and Emily show up to check on Tommy at the hospital. The nurse tells Tommy that his mother needs a transfusion but they don’t have her blood type. Tommy offers his but Emily thinks it’s a bad idea. He says he has no choice. Malina and her mentor Farah make it down to Canada where it’s much warmer. Farah reminds Malina why they kept her hidden in the Arctic.
She says their enemies have been hunting her intent on killing her since her birth. Farah says they must focus on life. She tells Malina – Earth – and the girl grows a tree from the cold ground. It’s fully formed and she smiles. But then a hiker comes up on them. Farah approaches the man and tells him to calm down. He dials his phone to call for help but Farah goes invisible and punches his lights out. She tells Malina that training is over.
Luke and Joanne check into a hotel and she asks why he wants to be inside on a nice day. He says he’s got a horrible headache and tells her to close the blinds so he can have dark. He says he’s been thinking and says he should sit out the next appointment and maybe she should too. Luke says they can rent a boat and go see a sunset and drink wine and be normal. He says it’s not too late. Joanne touches his head and says he feels like the surface of the sun. She says he’s not himself because he’s sick.
She hands him a glass of water and says to get rest and she’ll bring him some meds on the way back. Luke says they used to be happy and part of something special. She says things change and you have to change with them. He tries to get her to stop but she won’t. He says he still loves her. She leaves with her gun tucked into her pants. Luke puts his hand into the sunlight and it glows like a supernova. He grabs the glass of water in his glowing hand and it boils. He throws the glass across the room.
Luke opens the blinds and lets the sun come at him. He sees purple lights all around him like at the Arctic. Carlos sees the Northern lights too. So does Miko on the plane and Noah on the ground. The nurse tells Tommy it’s beautiful and Malina asks Farah if they know what’s coming and she asks what if she can’t save it all by herself. Farah says she’ll have help even if the others don’t know it yet.
[10/8/15, 6:01:16 PM] Rachel Rowan: On the plane, Miko looks out the window and says she can’t stop thinking about what the man at the tower said about her being dead. Ren says if she was dead, she’d be a zombie and teases her. He says she doesn’t seem like a zombie but she says it’s no joke then he says she’d be eating people not pretzels if she was undead. She asks about what he said about her father having the same power. Ren says it would make sense that her dad could jump into games and that’s why they’re so realistic.
Ren tells her that it’s her destiny to get her dad out of the game and tells her to be heroic. Carlos has jazzed up the El Vengador suit. Father Mauricio comes in and asks what he did. Carlos shows he enhanced it and Mauricio says it’s a fancy costume then asks if he should be impressed. The nurse tells Tommy that he’s not a match for his mom’s blood and he asks how that can happen. She says the closes blood bank is South Bend, Indiana but says it could take six hours.
The nurse asks if there’s something he wants to tell her. He asks about what. Tommy tells Emily he has to get his mom blood from Indiana. At Renautus, Taylor tries to scan herself in but it says access denied. She asks the guards if they know who she is. She drugs the guards and then Quentin and Noah run in and she says they need to hurry and find Molly. They open the doors to the research division and Noah sees the symbol. Harris’s clones pull guns on them.
Quentin says one of them is the guy who took his sister. Noah says hit the ground on three. They go and he shoots the fire extinguisher then the three clones. They crumble into piles of white substance. Joanne tells Luke the list of Evos is a godsend and he says she was so content after they killed the first one. He says she slept so soundly. He says he spent that night throwing up. He says they lost their son and he’s been so scared he’d lose her, he did this. He says they lost each other.
His hand bursts into flame along with part of the car. She pulls over and puts a gun to his head. He says to do it if she wants to. Joanne puts the gun down. She says she really did love him. She gets out of the car and walks away. Luke starts crying as he watches her walk away in the side mirror. He gets out of the car but she keeps walking, determined. He glares at his glowing hand then it calms back to flesh. Tommy talks to Emily about doing something extraordinary with her life.
Tommy says he has the feeling he’s supposed to then says it’s so much pressure and reminds him he’s different. Emily says that’s good since he is different and always will be. She says he will have way more fun once he accepts it. He starts to kiss her but she says let’s go save his mom. They blink out then back with the blood she needs. Tommy delivers it to the nurse who says he has to run. She says his blood test went to a federal database and says they know who he is.
She promises to take care of his mom but says he has to go now. He and Emily run outside then see agents. Emily tells him not to worry about them and be extraordinary. One of the agents says not to poof out of there if he wants his mom to get the blood he just delivered. Carlos finishes work on the batmobile he’s making just as Jose shows up. Carlos cranks the car and guns it. Jose asks to ride along but Carlos says it’s too dangerous. He tells the kid to hold down the fort and takes off.
Jose is mad and throws a bolt which clatters down beneath the grate into the secret tunnel. He hears it and goes to investigate. He slides the grate back and goes down the stairs. He picks up the bolt and looks around. He sees the board of evidence and the El Vengador costume – the original one – and the mask. He comes up out of the grate with the mask as Father Mauricio shows up. Jose says he was afraid to show his dad what he could do and Mauricio asks what can he do.
Jose puts his hand through a car window. Then the dirty cop Dearing show up and tases Mauricio and his buddy grabs Jose. Taylor, Quentin and Noah find a room where Renautus is using Evos like batteries, Matrix-style. Ren and Miko lurk outside Renautus and he says his plan is in motion. He says with so many katana girls around, it will be easier to infiltrate. She talks about flipping over the fence and sneaking in. She comes up and the other nerds there cosplaying freak out.
She and Ren are swarmed by screaming fans. Quentin runs around the room looking for Phoebe. Noah tells her these are all Evos and she spots Francis and calls her mom a lying bitch. Noah says he once knew a man who could collect powers through their brains but thinks Erica has found another name. Molly calls out to Noah. He goes over to her and starts to unfasten her. He says it’s going to be okay but she says there’s no stopping it. He says every machine has an off switch and she says not this one.
Taylor tells her she’s sorry and Molly says he never should have found her and he pulls his gun on him. He says he’s just trying to help but Molly says she’s heard that her whole life but people just want to use her for her powers. Noah says he knows he’s made mistakes in the past. She says it’s about more than that and says she was there when Claire died. He asks what happened. She says they agreed to do what was needed to keep them safe. Molly puts the gun to her head.
She says she was strong and didn’t give Erica the location. He asks to what and she says she can’t tell him or he won’t go back. She says she can’t help Erica kill seven billion people. Noah begs her to tell him what happened on June 13th. She says to forget the past and save the future and shoots herself in the head. An alarm goes off as soon as she dies. Quentin says they have to leave her or they’ll all end up dead. Harris comes in and sees Molly then reports to Erica that Molly killed herself.
He says she got hold of Noah Bennett’s gun and Taylor was with him. Erica says to bring them to her. She asks about EPIC and he says only local tracking works now that Molly is dead. He says the devices work within 100 feet of Evos. She asks if they found it before she died. He shakes his head no. He says EPIC picked up a signal in Canada that showed promise. Erica says to find that child and kill it. She tells him he has to take the Shadow with him because it’s too important.
We see a girl sitting and twirling a ball of darkness. It’s Phoebe – Quentin’s sister – and her eyes glow with strange light.
