I’d love to be a fly on the wall at Anmer Hall! Kate Middleton has been working on Prince George’s second birthday party, controlling every detail of the event. However, tensions must be high as Prince William might miss George’s birthday to work with his sexy new doctor partner, Gemma Mullen.
The Duchess of Cambridge has been spending part of her maternity leave planning events like Princess Charlotte’s christening; inserting multiple nods to Princess Diana wherever she could, and making plans for Prince George’s second birthday. The Daily Mail confirmed what CDL reported in June – Kate and Carole Middleton have planned a very low-key party, refusing the help of the housekeeper and nanny.
It appears the Middleton matriarch wanted to ensure the event would be modest and family-focused. However, much like Prince George’s first birthday party, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles will be absent. The royal grandparents are busy on a trip to the West Country. The plan to have the party when Charles and Camilla are away might have backfired, or Kate is smart enough to offer up time with Prince George on her terms. The Daily Mail notes that the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall are due to spend the weekend at Anmer Hall, spending time with their grandchildren under Kate’s watchful eye in lieu of attending George’s party.
While the Middleton family will be in attendance, complete with James and Pippa Middleton taking advantage of the press, one important person in George’s life will be noticeably absent. The little Prince’s father might be busy working. Prince William recently started his job as an East Anglian Air Ambulance helicopter pilot and might be on duty for Prince George’s birthday.
It’s actually quiet typical for royals to miss their children’s’ birthday parties. In fact, George was the first royal, in living memory, to have both parents present for his first birthday. However, Kate Middleton is extremely family-focused and clearly calls the shots at Anmer Hall. Beyond her middleclass, family values, Kate might have another reason to demand Prince William’s presence. The Duke of Cambridge was partnered with a sexy doctor who bears a striking resemblance to the Duchess, but is free of children and a domineering family. Gemma Mullen, a young and fit doctor, works long shifts with William and it’s a safe bet there is temptation.
It will be interesting to see if Prince William is able to spend the day off work to attend George’s birthday party. Whether or not William is home for George’s second birthday might be a big sign of how much power Kate can wield when it comes Prince William’s priorities and job.
What do you think? Will Prince William be home for Prince George’s second birthday? Are Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles even welcome to George’s party? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
