It’s no secret that the royals, and especially Prince William and Kate Middleton, are big fans of Downton Abbey. According to reports, Kate Middleton will pay a brief visit to servants’ quarters on March 12 when she visits the set of the series in Ealing Studios, West London. But don’t get excited folks, The Duchess of Cambridge won’t be making an appearance as a guest star on a episode of the drama.
According to the report, Kate will watch precisely one take of a scene being shot in the ‘servants area’, and a possible second take in Video Village, where the producers and executives re-watch the scene. Kate, who is around eight months pregnant right now, has slowed down her public appearance a schedule a tad bit, but this is clearly another publicity ploy to distract from the all the negative press the royals are facing this week – largely courtesy of the widely-reported rift between Prince Charles and Prince Andrew.
It hasn’t been reported which stars will be starring in the scene, but we do know that Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, and Elizabeth McGovern are all filming the sixth season of Downton Abbey right now.
Kate will also reportedly meet with creator/writer Julian Fellowes and be taken around the entire studio, where she’ll undoubtedly meet most of the cast and crew. She will also likely take several pictures with said cast and crew, and then she’ll reportedly head to a reception where she’ll continue hanging out with the cast, the writers, and producers.
However, the Downton Abbey visit is probably the only thing on Kate’s schedule that she actually has to look forward to. She already has an art gallery visit in Margate, Kent, and then a service to commemorate the Commonwealth – all in this one week! Forget the fact that Kate Middleton is eight months pregnant and weeks away from giving birth – you’d think that she’s the royal’s unofficial mascot, the way they trot her around. And in a way, I guess she is, no?
