Kate Middleton made one of her very rare speeches at the Head Teacher School Conference, and her latest speech digs at royal family traditions in a very veiled way. Most didn’t pick up on the jabs, but the Queen didn’t miss the subtle remarks. The personal comments have infuriated Queen Elizabeth as the Duchess of Cambridge returns to her royal revolution.
Princess Kate was at the conference run by one of her favorite charities, Place2Be. There, the Duchess gave a speech that was very personal and made references to her happy childhood. It’s no secret that every word that comes out of Kate’s mouth in a public setting is crafted and approved by the Palace.
Kate has been trained and likely scolded for social missteps, so the fact the Queen is infuriated suggests Kate Middleton didn’t use an approved script or simply added her own thoughts. Either way, the speech didn’t please Queen Elizabeth.
The Duchess of Cambridge grew up in a very comfortable setting. Michael and Carol Middleton built a very successful company and Kate, Pippa, and James grew up with plenty of money to spend on their social climbing and status endeavors. However, the Middletons have always had a sense of middleclass values.
Where Prince Charles was patted on the head and sent off with nannies so Queen Elizabeth could attend to stuffing her schedule with royal duties, Kate was coddled and shown affection. The Duchess made that point pretty clear in her speech saying, “My parents and teachers provided me with a wonderful and secure childhood where I always knew I was loved, valued, and listened to.”
The royal children typically get very little say, if any, in decisions regarding their future. Princess Diana actually started paving the way for a break in royal protocol when it came to spending time as family. Prince William and Prince Harry were Diana’s priority – not royal duties.
Kate also underlined that sentiment in her 3 minute talk stating, “Children deserve time, attention and love from the adults in their lives. It is our duty, as parents and as teachers, to give all children the space to build their emotional strength and provide a strong foundation for their future.”
However, Kate hit the point home with her statement regarding the power growing up with a loving family explaining, “Of course, not all children have the anchor of a strong family. Many will arrive through your school gates feeling a real lack of love and devotion in their lives. This often leaves them feeling insecure and without confidence and trust in the world around them.”
The statement underlines the fact that Kate Middleton and Carole Middleton have been ensuring they are the main influence and love Prince George and Princess Charlotte have. The bond will ensure loyalty and secure their future values are implanted in the heirs to the throne. It’s actually pretty smart, and will likely benefit the Middletons in the long run.
