Kate Middleton, with her mother Carole Middleton at her side, is dominating and changing the royal family, quietly orchestrating a royal middle class revolution. Prince Charles has already been pushed out, thanks to the Middletons’ determination to permanently implant themselves in the lives of Prince William, Kate, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte – defying Queen Elizabeth every step of the way.
You can call Carole Middleton a social climber and sycophant, but she does not give soggy crumpet what anyone thinks – even the Queen. Carole, once an airline flight attendant, is clearly having the last laugh. Thanks to her position in the Duke and Duchess of Cambridges’ lives, Carole is shaping the values and personality of the future monarchs, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Carole and Kate have instituted a new regimen that favors family and middle class values instead of privilege. Make no mistake, the Middletons and royal enjoy the power and riches of a multi-million dollar allowance, but Carole and Kate call the shots. Anmer Hall is lavish country home, but the Middleton family dominates, constantly making changes to royal traditions and protocol.
Even Prince Charles has crumbled under Carole Middleton’s rule. The Daily Mail reported in early March that royal insiders revealed Charles lamented, “They don’t let me see my grandson.” According to the rumors noted in the report,” Carole has rather taken over, dictating when George naps, when and what he eats. All in all, behaving like she’s Queen Carole.”
The Daily Beast has now added that Carole Middleton’s domination still persists. “Carole’s pretty hard to faze. She never really cared about the whole ‘doors-to-manual’ [joke]. You don’t build a business like she has being a sensitive flower,” the royal source shared. “She is also deeply practical. That’s why Kate likes having her around so much – she just takes care of all the details.”
It’s pretty evident Carole might not have the official title of Queen, but she has some of the power. After Princess Charlotte was born, Carole unabashedly beat Queen Elizabeth to meet Prince William and Kate’s first daughter. Grandma Middleton was quickly “removed” from the Queen’s sight, according to Star magazine, but it didn’t slow her down. As we noted, Prince Charles only saw Princess Charlotte twice in the weeks following her birth – both visits were at Kensington Palace. Meanwhile, Carole Middleton took up temporary residence at William and Kate’s home, Anmer Hall.
Prince Charles appears to be getting more time with Prince George lately. The current heir to the throne was spotted planting trees with his grandson, according to People. However, a photo shared by Popsugar followed Prince Charles and Prince George’s gardening adventure showing George perched on Carole Middleton’s shoulders. The tight-twosome enjoyed more one-on-one bonding time with a trip to Bucklebury Farm Park. It appears every moment spent with Grandpa Charles is followed by some time with Grandma Carole Middleton.
Typically, royal children spend the bulk of their time with nannies. They are cleaned up, presented for a brief visit, and then ushered off so mom and dad can have tea and return to royal duties. The Middleton rule has changed that. In fact, Prince George didn’t even have a nanny until he was nearly 3 months old. Carole Middleton and Kate Middleton have done a fantastic job putting themselves as the focus for influence. The Duchess and George are often spotted playing together in public parks, and William and Kate often enjoy a meal together at a pub; both outings unusual for royals.
The baby battle between Prince Charles and the Middletons isn’t about an argument over who gets to change a royal diaper. It’s about implanting themselves as an important and treasured role model or figurehead in the lives of Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Carole and Kate Middleton are walking a fine line, slowly making changes and shifting the power…but for how long?
Will Queen Elizabeth put a stop to those meddling Middletons? Is it too late? Could those royal traditions use a middle class reform? Let us know in the comment section below.
