The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, has given birth to a healthy baby girl! After being overdue for an entire week, and having the whole world watching, Kensington Palace has announced that Kate Middleton and her new baby girl are doing fine, and that the family could not be happier to welcome the royal baby girl into the world.
Thousands of fans and supporters gathered by the hospital and began cheering when the announcement was made. As of the latest reports (10:45 EDT) Prince William is heading home to Kensington Palace to pick up Prince George and bring the happy little brother of the new baby girl back to St. Mary’s to meet his royal sister! Prince William drove himself to Kensington Palace saying “we’re very,very happy, I’m just going to pick up George.” Kate Middleton and her new daughter make an appearance then? Keep watching the live feed below set outside the Lindo Wing, St Mary’s Hospital to see for yourself! There is speculation that Kate Middleton and the new baby will go home later today!
The Palace says the baby girl was born at 8:34 BST and was delivered safely. The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, was by his wife’s side the entire time. The baby girl is fourth in line for the throne.
A few days ago, Prince Charles made the statement that he was hoping for a granddaughter and it looks like his wish came true. The royal baby girl weighed in at a healthy 8lbs 3oz. The official statement from Kensington Palace adds, “The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news.”
There is no confirmation on a name yet, but we are sure that we will hear something soon. In the mean time, fans are ecstatic that the “Great Kate Wait” is finally over, and are more than happy to welcome the baby girl into the Royal Family. We will keep you updated as we learn more.

Update (11:30 EDT) – Prince George has arrived back with dad and cooperatively waved to the happy throng outside Lindo Wing, St. Mary’s Hospital, before being escorted in by Prince William to see mom and sis!
Update (12:39 EDT) – Kate Middleton and her new Royal baby girl are leaving St. Mary’s later today and heading home to Kensington Palace! Kensington Palace official announcement:
Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge will be leaving St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington this evening.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their daughter will travel home to Kensington Palace.
Prince George has now returned to Kensington Palace.
Their Royal Highnesses would like to thank all staff at the hospital for the care and treatment they have all received. They would also like to thank everyone for their warm wishes.
Update (20:42 EDT) – Kate Middleton and Prince William along with their new unnamed royal baby girl left private Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s hospital Saturday evening (local time). Kate had only arrived at hospital less than 13 hours before in the early stages of labor. Now safely back home in their apartments at Kensington Palace the royal family will decide when to make an official announcement of the new baby girl’s name. Prince George was officially names two days after he was born in 2013 so if we expect a similar protocol then we will learn the royal baby girl’s name Monday! In the meanwhile London bookies who take bets on the name show Charlotte as favorite in the lead followed by Alice – which name are you rooting for? Update (Sunday 11:25 EDT) With Kate Middleton and her new royal baby girl safely at home at Kensington Palace the royals enjoyed a day of rest and welcoming important visitors. Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles stopped by to greet the youngest new heir to the British throne along with Carole and Pippa Middelton. Of course proud grandfather Michael Middleton showed up as well but arrived separately from his wife and daughter, probably planning not to stay as long.
Queen Elizabeth and The Duke of Edinborough, Prince Philip, did not come to London for the birth and attended church today at St. Mary Magdalene on her majesty’s Norfolk Sandringham Estate. Later this week Princess Kate and her two children are expected to move to Anmer Hall, also on the Sandringham Estate, where it is presumed The Queen will met the new royal baby. One visits The Queen!
