Update: The royal baby name has been chosen and officially announced: Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. One can only imagine the rage that Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles are experiencing right now. This is a major insult to Camilla who stole Prince Charles from Princess Diana and ruined her life. Diana was quoted as saying that Camilla Parker-Bowles was the third person in her marriage!
The time has come for Kate Middleton and Prince William to officially and publicly announce the name of the their new royal baby girl. As the millions of fans celebrate the birth of Kate Middleton’s royal baby, the newest addition to the royal family, a princess, the world awaits to hear what the little girl will be named. Right now, the newborn princess has spent her first night with Kate Middleton, Prince William and older brother Prince George at home in London’s Kensington Palace, but there has been no official statement revealing her name.
Right now, the two favorite names are Princess Charlotte and Princess Alice. Many people believe that the Palace would release a statement announcing the Princess’ name on Sunday, May 3, however that was not the case.
While the world waits patiently to find out the name, Britain’s legal bookmakers have been taking thousands and thousands of bets for the baby’s name. Many fans have been placing bets, hoping to win big. For weeks now, Alice, has been in first place, however in the last few days, Charlotte, the feminine form of the name Charles, has become the crowd favorite.
Other fan favorites include Olivia, Victoria, Elizabeth, Alexandra, and Diana, the last of which is the name if Prince William’s deceased mother.
While it is possible that the baby Princess will dawn a new name in the monarchy, it is very customary for the Royal Family to look into their historical past for name ideas. The Royal Family does its best to repeat names in each generation, in an effort to preserve the institution of the Crown.
Charlotte, which is a French name, would be in honor of the baby girl’s grandfather Prince Charles. George IV named his daughter Charlotte, but she did not live past 21. George III had a wife named Queen Charlotte, who was born in 1744.
Princess Diana and Prince William
Alice, the other favorite, would be a nod to Queen Victoria’s second daughter Princess Alice, who was also the grandmother of Queen Elizabeth II’s husband, Prince Philip.
Diana is thought to be used in the baby’s name as an obvious nod to Prince William’s late mother, however many speculate the this will be one of the Princess’ middle names. Some say that Queen Elizabeth as well as Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles have forbidden the use of the name Diana on the grounds that it will remind people of Prince Charles scandalous cheating and divorce.
