When Kate Middleton married Prince William, she brought a much-needed public interest back to the royal family. The royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton brought in a huge economy boost for the United Kingdom. However, as the Duchess of Cambridge’s power fades, Queen Elizabeth will likely limit spending and force Kate back to work.
The Middletons are facing a war with the Queen. Kate has been dubbed “Duchess of Do Little” and “Lazy Katie” by Queen Elizabeth, as she insists on taking on the role of a stay-at-home-mom. It sounds like a respectable choice, but the Duchess’ habit for cherry-picking her royal duties and appearances hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Queen.
Queen Elizabeth was not pleased when she found out that Kate was too “tired” to attend a lunch for World War II veterans, but had the strength to attend Wimbledon and host Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for tea during the same time frame. Kate has also been enjoying solo activities like secretly learning to pole dance. Perhaps the Duchess feels threatened by Prince William’s sexy new coworker, Gemma Mullen?
On top of Kate’s allegedly lazy attitude, Carole Middleton has been calling the shots at Anmer Hall, making changes to royal traditions, and dominating Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s lives. All of those power plays have further angered Queen Elizabeth, who likely feels pushed to a breaking point. The Queen of England does not want some commoner social climbing business person, Carole Middleton, determining how things run in Prince William’s family.
What the Middletons should be worried about is Kate’s lack of presence causing what the Daily Mail describes as the “Kate Effect” to wane. There is a drastic decline in profits for the royals, as accounts filed at Companies House by Royal Collection Enterprises reveals. The British media outlet revealed visitors of Buckingham Palace have fallen and merchandising income has dropped. Translation – thanks to a reduction in tourism and interest combined with a lack of new audience development, the royal purse might be in more trouble than it already is.
Let’s not forget Buckingham Palace is also in need of “urgent building repairs.” The renovations could close the Palace to visitors for a full summer season, which would be a huge financial blow to the Royal Collection.
It looks like the Duchess of Cambridge might need to rethink her royal engagement snubs. If Kate continues to pull her stay-at-home-mom card, it’s likely Queen Elizabeth will intervene. In fact, the Queen has already sent Kate and the Middleton family a message by failing to attend Prince George’s second birthday party. Kate and Carole took it as a declaration of war according to an American media outlet. It will be interesting to see if the Duchess begins making more appearances.
